Hopslam was a good beer before all of the Innovations in hops. Now that there are so many different, juicier, aromatic hops available this beer has no place in the top rated ipas in the country. The sweet malt bill and hops used combine for a smell that reminds me of something I can put my finger on. Its just not appealing to me anymore.

Every year in early February I go on a mad quest to find HopSlam. I've paid $8 a bottle for it, 2 years ago I found it on tap at Mad Mex's restaurant and had to buy 2 growlers at $30 apiece , and last year my boss gave me a year old six pack that he forgot in his fridge since we could not find it anywhere.
This year we went to Cleveland beerfest, and planned on staying in Cleveland for two days to go to FatHeads brewery. On Saturday afternoon we went into a Market District store and found HopSlam 6packs for $17.99. They had a massive wall of it, so I fell into the abyss and bought 2 cases, along with 2 1/2 cases of Bohdi and 4 4 packs of Head Hunter from Fat Heads.
I've been enjoying a few beers after work ever since. I'd have to say, HopSlam is a little bit more smooth than in years past, but I consider it a damn good beer regardless. I have no problems with this years batch. Its as orgasmic as every other years batch, so I am quite pleased.

Hopslam and Two Hearted in the can are so far superior to the bottle. Once they started canning both of these I really rediscovered my love for them. Was thankful to get a couple of six packs out here.

Not here that I have seen. I literally have not seen a tap or bottle of Hopslam in my area.

Keith, I had a draft glass of Hopslam a few weeks ago at the Boathouse in Conshohocken.

My local beer distributor received a case of Hopslam (cans): KOP Beer Outlet.

    Cheers!

We still have cans on the shelves here ($18.98), but this is the first year Bell's has been in Arkansas. I think it's an outstanding beer. Just because tastes have changed for some people doesn't make it any less great. Personally, I think it's very unique in today's sea of DIPAs and I love the taste.

Thanks Jack, I'm just noting that I used to see it around, but it doesn't seem that way anymore. Heck, TJs used to have it on draft once a year and promote it....but no more that I saw.

FWIW I did not see it on tap at TJs during any of my visits. Maybe Jeff simply decided to not pay the 'big bucks' for a keg of Hopslam?

To the best of my knowledge Jeff didn't obtain a keg of PtY this year either.

There is just so many high quality local beers that Jeff has available to him. He frequently has Tired Hands on tap; on a Friday night he might have 2-3 different Tired Hands pouring at the same time. He has also been getting Stickman a lot lately (which should make you happy).

    Cheers!

Agreed, I thought I just missed his PtY post since he always did it improptu.

I know years ago he used to tell me the only reason he got a Hopslam keg each year was because he kept Two Hearted on tap year round. Since it seems he switched Two Hearted now with a Tired Hands beer on all the time, I guess Bells mabye didn't send him one? Just guessing here.

And yest I to love a lot of the Stickman brews, but I normally just stop on my way home to get the ones I want since I'm 5 minutes from the brewery. Stickman is the best brewery people are NOT talking about.

He still has Two Hearted on tap a lot. It may not be continuously but more often than not it is on tap when I visit.

    Cheers!

P.S. Two Hearted is on tap right now: http://www.tjseveryday.com/whats_on_tap.asp

Also Tired Hands and Stickman too!
