NBS BIF #5 sign-up thread

    OK, NBS BIF #5 is about to get rolling, and this is the place to sign on for another fun-filled hitch. Dates aren't finalized, but in general I'm looking at sign-up ending on the last Sunday of February, with pairings going that week. Looking at a potential Share Date on NBS either last Sunday of March or first Sunday of April. If you have preferences, mention 'em here.

    Let me see am I in? Never a doubt I'm in! And in honor of this thread I'll start a LIF and what it will be is if we reach 30 participants this time I'll use the randomizer to pick one participant and they will receive a box of beer from me.

    Any more chat about reigning in the larger size armaments? Keeping it more in the range of small arms (and the occasional claymores, mortars, and RPG's), as discussed prior?

    I noticed after reading back through previous NBS threads that there was some interest in adding Canada to the map.

    If you're still interested in doing that, count me as 100% in to participate on this. I'd love to get involved.

    I made an executive decision, based on my always trustworthy memory, to revert back to the original 66-72oz minimum. The original intent was to keep it approachable for new folks, or for those who don't want to make a huge commitment. As for the upper end, there's no way to truly control how much beer someone sends so, as long as everyone realizes that you might only get a sixer in return, walebombz away!

    IIRC, the shipping costs in going across the border were the main reason we haven't done it. If you have a drop box on the border (I live in a border county, and there's a booming business for them here) that simplifies things. @LehighAce06 has more experience in BIFs, so I'll lean on him for advice on this.

    You're pretty on point @beertunes, customs forms and extra cost etc make it tougher to accomplish. With that said it isn't a nonstarter, just a pain.

    Two possible solutions would be to "pass the hat" around the group, a couple bucks each from the majority of participants would help defray the cost, or if that doesn't sit well it could be a requirement of the international person to cover the added cost for their sender, either way you or I (or whoever is running the round) would collect via PayPal and pass along to the sender.
