Bellingham Beer Week is on for April 21-29. It's moved up from it's traditional September slot. The second Saturday is probably the same day as the annual April Brews Day beer fest. No details yet, but, I'll put 'em here when I get 'em.

The annual April Brews Day Fest closes out BBW. Tickets go on sale April 1. If you're thinking about coming up for it, I STRONGLY suggest springing for the VIP ticket. In an hour early, and the fest always gets crowded. Last year, VIP tix sold out in less than 6 hours. The fest is for a great cause, and, we've got plenty of hangover brunch options the next morning: http://www.maxhigbee.org/april-brews-day.html

Wonder what Fremont will be serving at their taproom.

@Texwild If I may be so blunt, how are sales of Lush IPA vs.LY (77 Select)? I have a high opinion of both beers, but I have to imagine Lush's appeal on many levels (packaging was on point, maybe more wintery than springy, but the matte white was cool) have been beneficial.

I've tried to insert them periodically myself, but the NW forum, IMHO, could use more Seinfeld references. They'd fit right in with the haikus, baseball banter, shellfish harvesting tools, lawn care regimes, and the like...

Perhaps I'm biased, but I find the playful irreverence about our scene so often on display here refreshing and unique on BA. It's our last hope, our final stand, against becoming like other places. It's why, for now, we are still...masters of our domain.

Also, please send good beer to Bellingham this year for BBW. They definitely don't need it, but I daresay they deserve it.

    This, I agree with.

But, what the world needs now, is less Seinfeld. Each episode was like a mini Woody Allen movie about self-centered, narcissistic, shallow people from New York Shitty with mental health issues. After about the second time that fool had come busting into my apartment, there would have been a ball-peen hammer to the forehead waiting for him. Needless to say, I'm on Team Newman.

And another thing, they too much coffee and not enough beer.

    A few things:

1.) There will be laughter for you in heaven, Terry. I promise.
2.) We were never meant to like the characters on Seinfeld. They literally condemned themselves for their behavior in the finale. A comedic sitcom with nice, normal, mentally well-adjusted people would get awfully dull awfully quick.
3.) Even with your deep-seated aversion to all things Boston, I wonder if you cared for Cheers? Regardless, and I hope you don’t mind my saying so--because I do so endearingly--but you’ve always sorta struck me as the love-child of Norm and Carla, with a genetic assist from Cliff.

I loved Cheers. How could I not, it took place in a bar after all. That's the difference though, the characters on Cheers were likable, the characters on Seinfeld were not. Why invest so much time into people one dislikes? If I were spawned from sitcom characters, the paternal side would likely be Coach/Woody from Cheers, with the Maternal side Hotlips from MASH/Roseanne (and I hate Roseanne Barr).

I ain't going to heaven, and I get plenty of laughter here on this rock. But, I'm at least a half-bubble off level, and what amuses me is likely different than what amuses most folks. As anyone who sees my FB feed can attest to.

    Beer Week. because beer.

I loved Cheers. And I like Boston. It's the sport fan mentality there that I dislike.

The Gruff/Boundary Bay collab is in the brew kettle as I type. It's going to be a kettle sour, with some, uh, "unique" cultures, and 2-3 different kinds of fruit. It sounds a on the busy side to me, but we'll see.

So, tasted Neighborhood Watch, the Gruff/BB beer, a couple days ago. Interesting beer; uses yogurt and sourdough cultures for tartness, and the fruit adds some sweetness. I suspect a few kegs might make it south, worth a shot if you see it.

I've had kettle sours that used actual yogurt cultures before.

It's kinda weird. @sharpski knows what I'm talking about.

Yup, that's what this one does. The sourdough too. I don't remember exactly, but I think one of the fruits was Mango, and maybe Passionfruit?

So, one of the BBW events I'm happy for, even though I'm undecided as to my personal participation, is Walk for a Paws. A fund-raiser for the Humane Society. A group dog walk of roughly 5k, from Boundary Bay to Paws for a Beer, which is a newish, dog focused beer bar in Fairhaven. It'll follow the South Bay Trail from downtown, through Boulevard Park, and end up down in FH.

Fremont made tallboy cans of an Imperial Porter with Coffee, Coconut and Vanilla for BBW this year, they released a small amount of them at Pint Defiance in Tacoma the other night. I don't think they're calling it Midnight Rider anymore.

Between this and BS 20, we're seeing a pretty big design change from previous labels. Wonder if it will continue with future new beers or updating current labels.
