Struck out at Binnys DG by a few mins. F all you savages.

 

Crazy that BA Darkness seems to have been much easier to grab than this damn beer.

 

They're hiding some, though. Not the highest-profile whalez, but some of the more well thought of stuff that they're getting in (Rodenbach Alexander for one, I think) doesn't show up on social media, at least that I recall. If they're doing a release event though, they're going to call it out.

Madagascar is a much better beer, IMO. I got both and the BA Darkness is going straight out east for OH IPAs.

 

yeah I guess that's what I figured most people were getting at. they announce their releases. I cant blame them for not announcing every new beer they get. that would be a full time job itself!

 

I may or may not have Madagascar tonight (if I'm lucky and can brave the crowds). I'm not the biggest BA Darkness fan, but between it and the last bottle of Mada I had (last year's), it's a toss-up, to me. I've loved Madagascar on tap, but the bottle I had was too thin. No idea how this year's is, though.

 

Not that I had high hopes, but damn you guys for crushing my dreams!

LP binny's is out too. I got the last case.

 

I only said that because I found Madagscar easier to find last year than BA Darkness, so thought it was weird that the opposite is true this year.

 

They only posted 2 hours ago, though - which is different than advertising it a week in advance. Seems they're trying to keep it at least somewhat quieter than other places may do.

 

I think Surly has a much better output of BA Darkness at this point given their maturity/capacity. Most places had multiple cases of BA Darkness, sounds like Madagascar was one case per place?

Sadly I guess my plan to crack open a Madagascar while watching Madagascar in Madagascar will have to wait another year...

 

I'm so lost, I got a lot of BCS variants at Monk's this morning. Madagascar was today? Well shucks, Prop was really good today. Will def enjoy opening my bottle I got this year. If Madagascar is better than BA Darkness then I might trade my bottle for that. I'm only speaking a loud.

I don't know, maybe this has been said before: Chicago needs to stop having such good beer made and pass through here. I can only keep up so much.

I went to Binny's Mokena today and they told me the same story. Their allotment of Madagascar had several broken bottles, so they had to refuse the shipment.

Something strange going on here.

 

Good idea lol. I'll have to cancel the trip to Madagascar though, but my name is Julian, sometimes King Julian, so I'll have to settle for drinking my Madagascar while watching Madagascar but also with a New York Giants game on in the background. My neighbor's dog was named Maurice but sadly he passed last year so I'll have to compromise on my sidekick as well :/

 

I have noticed some beers are more expensive at Binny's this year, for example the BA stuff from Great Divide. The guys at Bottles and Cans told me that Great Divide dropped the price this year to be more competitive, and I have seen them priced ~$16 at all the small shops whereas Binny's still has them at the "old" price of $26. Must have something to do with the distributor and what price they are getting the beer at. I have also never seen Binny's price beers higher due to demand.

Good move by Great Divide, can't say I'll pay $26 for BA Ruffian but I happily picked one up for $16, hopefully they keep that price point next year.

 

2017 will be the year of the resellers claiming "broken bottles in the shipment" to get rid of customers...

 

I had last year's Madagascar and this year's, both in bottles. This batch was notably superior.

I wasn't even going to try for this year's until my friend shared the new batch with me.

 

I felt last year it was too sweet for me. This years seems to more balanced.
