Forgive me if there is a thread already, I did search and found nothing.

I picked up a bottle of their dry hopped Incipient over at The Sovengard on Monday. I've heard a bit of buzz about this brewery and wondered what people thought of them. They're fairly new and only do bottle sales on the second Saturday of every month.

They're the first all Wild Ale brewery in West MI (I believe?), based out of Comstock Park. Their head brewer/owner Mitch Ermatinger brewed at Black Project in CO as well as Former Futures. So far they're not allowed to serve at their Brewery, so it's only bottle pickup with some free tastings of current/future offerings. Sales are held about every two weeks on Eventbrite. Everything I've had from them has been very solid, if not great. Got in on some earlier bottles from their tee shirt sales (dry hopped wild cider, and Common Decent- a Berliner w Cherries) both were good. Their first official release, Genetic Drift, a Tart Farmhouse Ale, was outstanding. I'm very excited about their next release, Incipient w Black Currant. I'm happy to be a cultured club member and looking forward to seeing what Mitch comes up with over the next year.

Excited for that black current, and everything else to come. Mitch is killing it!!

Public sale of Black Currant Incipient begins on March 4th at noon, limit of 6 bottles pp. This was a half sized batch (around 800ish bottles) compared to Genetic Drift and Dry Hopped Incipient, so I'm guessing it'll sell out rather quickly, especially with members having a shot at 8 bottles a piece before it goes on sale to the public. Early reviews of this on Untappd seem very favorable. Also excited to find out what the members glasses will look like and to find out what the first members only bottles will be! (Bourbon Barrel aged Dark Sour w/ Blood Orange? Only speculation of course)

I had Black Currant Incipient at The Sovengard this past weekend and it was really great. Jammy with a good balance of sweetness and tartness. I shot some photos around the brewery and I'll post them when I get them on my site. I just picked up the first two releases so I haven't had them yet but I hear great things.

Thanks for the heads up! I think I'll try for a bottle. Kind of regretting my KBS purchase now but oh well. My excitement grows for this brewery.

Just a heads up to non members, looks like there's an extremely low amount of bottles that are making it to the public sale on March 4th. Better be on the stick with this one!

Thanks for the heads up @BEERschlitz. I assumed this would be a tougher ticket so looks like I'll have to be on right at noon and hope for the best. I've been really impressed with the first two bottle offerings and enjoyed the sample of black currant at the February bottle pick up.

    Cheers!

Unrelated to Speciation but I'm a big fan of Sovengard. I had some excellent Elk Brisket a few weeks back and the beer list was fantastic... cheers!

Speciation and Sovengard are both great. Good people all around. Give them both your money!

Well, that was terrible. As far as I could tell only 130 tickets available and they went immediately.

Was driving to OddSide for Rye Hipster so I didn't get to see the shitshow I'm sure it was, but I can imagine. Nice work to all who scored bottles, sorry to those who missed out. I did see Mitch said that this WILL be made again, and I'm sure limits will be set differently if the yield is the same.

Wow, I thought it was 4:00 when they went on sale?

    Damn - misread that terribly.

I was hoping to get the black current and do a side by side with the regular Incipient I have. Maybe I can find someone that is interested in a trade.I'll be in GR picking up my KBS on the 11th. With so few bottles it would be nearly impossible to get 1 from the one shop remotely near me that gets Speciation.
