That seems like quite an exaggeration.

Of their quality. I personally think Firestone has one of the best barrel programs in the world. So having their beers at a good, competitive price is a huge win for me.

I am aware of beers like Lagunitas High Westified and Dragon's Milk, among others, but I don't think they are of the same quality. Still good, just not world class.

Thinking off the top of my head here... Goose Island Bourbon County is cheaper, Bell's Black Note is cheaper, Backwoods Bastard is half the price, and Central Waters Brewer's Reserve series is half the price... so it's really hard to argue that $10/12oz Firestone Walker beers are the "best value for barrel aged beer out there" no matter how much you might prefer them.

Did they not get the memo that their was a size decrease? That's what they were charging for the 22 oz bottles.

Tried one bottle and it's quite delicious.
Would prefer FW do both larger and smaller formats for their boxed beers, like Founders is doing this time around with KBS.

This is the heart of the fault in denouncing bombers for the sake of a strict 12oz format. People assumed breweries would put them in four packs since BCBS was offered in that format a couple years back. Unfortunately, this assumption has lead people astray, and not resulted in much savings per ounce over the larger format. We'll now have even more expensive 12oz bottles to choose from instead of just Prairie and Avery. While I can't say I love bombers, I think folks are fighting to get rid of an important, and fun-sharing format (sharing 2x12oz bottles doesn't work too well when a shop has a limit of 1). Especially when breweries use the change in format to maintain or increase the price/oz.

Every where I've seen Bravo has had a one bottle limit still as well. Less beer for my visit. The bright side is perhaps this change will allow new folks to snag some Firestone Reserve stuff, since it won't (or shouldn't) be gobbled up as quick.

Just my two cents. I picked up a bottle of Bravo to try. Fortunately, I paid $8 for it. Even at that price, I was tempted to put it back and get a Prairie Bomb and still save money.

Keeping the large and small format would be ideal. It would mean the brewery has to do at least two bottling batches, and could alter distro transport fees and storage. If bottle shops know the large format is going to sell better, it could go for more of a premium now.

It's just disheartening to read through half a dozen threads on here denouncing the bomber and now all of a sudden people want it back.

Thanks for the heads-up! I ended up grabbing one in Alexandria, VA for the same price, may grab another to take a shelf nap for a while if I like it.

Yea I was surprised by the hate for the bomber on BA and the beer subreddit threads. I like them because 2 glasses of a heavy beer is enough for me to drink alone, and if i bring it to share with some friends there's enough to pour a glass for myself and some samples for them, or a bunch of samples depending on how many want to try it. That said i'm definitely more of a fan of the beer in the format than the format itself so if the $/oz stays the same i'm cool with picking up a singles instead.

And Lizard of Koz for $10? I'm not really into that beer, but for that price...

Well i think firestone is better than those options. So it isn't hard to argue that it's a better value to me. Value isn't all about price. If that were the case then 30 rack of an adjunct lager would be the best value.
