Town Hall Barrel Aged Week 2017

So they have more beer to put on their dedicated year round barrel aged tap line.

You will get a chance at all of these again throughout the year.

 

I for one was a huge fan of the breakfast tacos - I know we recommended them while at the bar, special would be great to have more often!

 

Anyone ever go to the dinner they put out for this? I think it's tomorrow. Sounds pretty good.

The first year (2014?) Project 3106 was one of the best beers I've ever had. I grabbed a couple of growlers the following year and was thoroughly disappointed, so I kept one in the fridge for 2 years just to see what would happened. Overall, it was a pretty different beer from what I remember, and it was perfectly carbonated.

If this year's 3106 is anything like that first year, it is a no brainer for me.

 

Agree on that 3106 for the 1st year, it was perfection, the barrel the chocolate and the fruit.

 

I learn the following things tonight at Town Hall Barrel Aged Week:

1.) Single Barrel Foolish Angle Reserve is really damn good.

2.) E.T. Wee is good, but would be better without conspiracy theories.

3.) My adherence to bar-stool-protocol withstands fantasies of man-made pyramids in Antarctica, but ends with the denial of the Theory of Gravity.

4.) Good bartenders know the nutjobs who frequent their bars, and try to divert them from well adjusted patrons; my bartender tried.

5.) I need to go back, and retry E. T. Wee.

@DineAlone can I expect the Single Barrel Foolish to last into the weekend?

 

Ha! I wonder if that's the dude we just refer to as "the drunk guy". He stopped at our table years ago when my kids were 9 or 10, sloppy drunk, & held forth on goodness knows what for a few minutes. My girls have ever since referred to him as "the drunk guy" & we see him almost every time we're in. He was there last night in shorts & a biking helmet.

What I learned last night is that if you're going to drink a barrel-aged flight & follow it up with a pour of Twisted Trace, it's awesome to have a daughter old enough to drive home. And having the Single Barrel & Regular Foolish Angel side-by-side I'd give the very, very slight nod to the Single Barrel, but both are fantastic.

 

John is a Town Hall institution; I think he's been there since the beginning. Every good bar has one. He can be a hoot if you're in the right frame of mind and a complete boor if not. He once tried to school my wife on how much more he know about menstruation, lactation and child birth than her - and he initiated the awkward conversation!

 

Oh no that was actually me. My bad.

 

Dropped in for a flight yesterday, oh my god that single barrel. I had just had the normal foolish from 2016 on friday to empty the growler for trade in - and id pick single barrel fresh over the (really well aged) regular.

 

We tapped the last 1/2 BBL yesterday afternoon. I just picked it up and I'd say there's about 1/4 BBL left.

 

Translation - go today! (no really its worth it)

 

Would you mind picking it up again, placing it in your car, and then delivering it to my house?
