Definitely the most unique from the bunch he's done so far. V4 is still king for me but this one was is excellent

Agreed on Hubbard's. The hop itself isn't my favorite, but the beer is very well done. I cannot WAIT for a citra version, and I'd be pretty interested in a galaxy or mosaic one, as well.

Just had my Gummy Vortex that was canned 2-10-17 and it was still as good as it was on tap when I had that day. Held up very well

The new NE IPA that NW is working on will be with El Dorado and Citra hops. Excited to try that.

Looks like HB is canning a citra and mandarina-hopped NE IPA tomorrow, along with an NE DIPA (I can't tell what type of hops from the pic).

I'll probably pass on both since I've got so much beer already, but somebody better let me know how Blazed Orange (the citra one) is!

(also, are these going to be I Want To Believe-style NE IPAs, or more traditional ones?)

I think he's saying that HB has put NE style on labels before and they turned out....not so NE style.

I Want to Believe the last one was a NE style IPA. But it wasn't.

It was a decent IPA though.... just not what the label said

so per Facebook limits will be determined today at open, definetly want to try both.

Question for the class - They know how much of each they made & also what demand has been for their canned happy beers so far, not even considering one of the releases is a collaboration with Mike that increases the hype. why not set the limit now & in a way that will help these last into the weekend? Essentially are they trying to encourage a line if neckbeards who can be there at 4 on a Thursday who are trying to hoard a case of each?

The limits for Juice were two cases to start, but dropped to one case within 30-40 minutes of opening. I'm not sure there was much of a line when they opened that Friday, but by the time I got there, there was no line and a 1 case limit on the Juice.

All that said, I agree. Just say one case limit to start and be done with it.

We purposely don't announce cans till (usually) the day the beer will release, and often don't respond to people emailing asking for upcoming release dates for the same reason. This time we did it the day before, as we have not been open on thursdays. We do not encourage lines whatsoever, and in fact try to limit them. For those that would get in line, wouldn't deciding a limit based on turnout at open only lead us to setting a more restrictive limit than had people just arrived naturally? We do everything we can to make sure the beer makes it through the day and for every release so far, into the next day as well. That is to make sure people who can't be here at open can still get the beer if they'd like, without waiting in line or adjusting their schedule around us.

So that two case limit for Juice meant there wasn't a huge turnout right at open?

It was our highest yield to date with nearly 20 cases more than any batch prior, and initial turnout was less, so we made that decision and adjusted as we went. Once cans run out we then allow growler fills that typically last the entire weekend.

Yeah, sorry to be unclear, I'm just (somewhat facetiously) asking whether or not these will actually seem particularly NE-style. Most of HB's stuff has been super hazy and with the expected sort of mouthfeel, but I Want to Believe was mostly clear, and didn't have that same mouthfeel, which was weird, since it was labeled an NE IPA like all the rest.

Also, assuming Transient isn't going to be doing much distro in Chicago for a while, I'd like to suggest a petition to build a bridge over Lake Michigan to make the route to Transient a little more direct.

People need to stop announcing releases of NE IPAs, we all know the hops start falling off once they announce them.
