Had a double-capped bottle of Pirate Paradise that caused there to be an improper seal. When opened, the bottle released no "hiss" and poured about 95% flat -- about two minutes later, the beer was completely flat. I've emailed Prairie along with attaching photographic proof of the issue, not demanding or asking for anything in return (since I'm clearly not getting another bottle of PP). It's been 4 days with no response of any kind.

My question: Do I follow up with an additional email or do I just take my loss gracefully?

Closest I've had was a four pack of Hardcore Chimera from Finch's and one of the cans was quite soft as it wasn't full. Opened it and drank it, it might have been a bit off but I didn't contact anyone. Had I brought it back to Binny's they probably would've replaced it

I did open a bottle of Natty Light by accident once and it was bad but I digress

Maybe try messaging via FaceBook (not a public post). Sometimes that gets a quicker response. I have had good luck with e-mail and phone calls, but sometimes e-mails don't get a quick response. One brewer responds within a few hours to FaceBook messages as do a couple of stores - e-mails go black hole. They would probably want to know the code information from the bottle in case it is a repeated problem. Well, can't say for sure, but that is the kind of info they would need to track down if it was a one time bad luck thing or an issue with the capper. Depends on what their policies and procedures are, but from a QA perspective they should want to know.

I've had this a couple times, once with a 4pack of black chocolate stout that had 4 half filled bottles and once with abita, same issue. I let both breweries know, abita sent me a new 6 pack a t shirt and a bottle opener but Brooklyn just said sorry. What I'm getting at is, some don't care or don't have the time and means to address it, others, like abita have plenty of resources and are willing to make it up. Sending another email won't hurt, but most likely it's a loss. Good luck.

By posting a public thread? Sometimes folks get busy, and it takes time to get a response. Sometimes there is no response. You've put the ball in their court, now you wait.

Yes. By posting in a related public thread, asking advice from other beer enthusiasts who have likely come across this situation before, who have also waited and who also can relate to this experience and probably have come to an acceptable resolution. I'm simply asking for feedback and what others feel is the most appropriate course of action.

But this seems like the obvious answer, thanks.

If you've told them about it, and since you are not expecting any 'compensation' in return from them, you've done what you can. It would be polite if they acknowledged your email, but don't hold your breath. This really is not a packaging flaw that could be expected to be widely spread, or be fixed by tinkering with the capping machine, but is more of a wierd occurrence that is likely not anything that they can control.

I would leave it alone. You did your part and they most likely got the message. If you don't get a reply least you were nice enough to post them. But also keep in mind they may get 100s of posts and it takes some time to reply, so you may likely get a reply down the road.

Update - Prairie finally read my private FB message and then blocked me from further messages. When I made a little comment on a photo of their caps on FB, they deleted my comment (so I posted another). It seems rather than acknowledging the issue, they'd rather ignore it and try and shut me up. Pretty sad, especially because my remarks were polite, even praising them for a job well done in the past.

That's disappointing they'd block you or delete comments. While I haven't seen the exact message, it does raise some red flags. Obviously, they want to save face, but the best way to do that is to acknowledge the mistake over email, and prevent it from going public.

I had a can explode on me, or more so, it gushed out about 4 oz of foam (16 oz can) leaving a flat, syruping beer. I emailed the company, got an acknowledgement, and they even sent me some swag. The swag wasn't necessary, but that's how stand-up of a company they are. It was my first and only beer from that brewery, and nearly left a bad impression. Fortunately, they took the incident in stride and have left me with a positive impression of them as a company.

I warned you that sending nude pics wasn't the best way to get a response.

Try a private message since someone is clearly monitoring the FB account. Most companies avoid airing their dirty laundry in public.

That's very disappointing and surprising that Prairie would respond like that. If a customer is not making demands for action I can't think of a reason why they wouldn't at least respond with an acknowledgement and apology. The two quality concerns that I took to breweries were met with an apology and replacement of my purchase and then some.

Prairie must be doing great nowadays to act like that.

I did, I sent them one first via FB messenger and then two to their general email on their site before mentioning anything on a public forum.

In that case, I wouldn't buy anything from them again. There are plenty of other good breweries who would appreciate your business more.

I had a pack of Zombie Dust with a loose cap that ruined the beer. I told 3 floyds about it and they offered to replace it. I just said no thanks I only wanted to deliver the message.

For as much grief as they get, they are one of the best when it comes to quality issues. Theye are always quick to refund or give out gift cards.

I wouldn't let it rest...this is one of the things wrong in America...'oh well I paid for something that doesn't do what it's supposed to...too bad for me.' Hell no! I would bug them everyday until they can at least apologize and thank you for taking the time to let them know something about their product.....

Once purchased a suitcase of Coors Light. Last can was empty. Sealed but empty. I sent them an email and they promptly mailed me a manufacturer's coupon for $10 or $20 of free beer.
