You know they just don't appear out of thin air right? Zoning changes (just approved last week) can take many months alone. Then permits. Then build. They announced the production brewery expansion plans a while ago.

And how is their communication been terrible? Are you hoping they call with crowler updates? They post all the time on instagram and other social media.

Heist is at maximum capacity right now. It speaks volumes to the quality of beer they're producing that they're at max capacity, and go through beer so quickly. It makes total sense that they're limiting crowlers of stuff from time to time. It'll only be several more months until their bar/production facility is up and running. Just bear with them through this process, and if you want to know if they're allowing a crowler of this or that, just call ahead. That doesn't seem like a tall order.

Instead of nit picking about something pretty inconsequential in the grand scheme of things, we should be thanking our lucky stars that Charlotte has a brewery that's easily producing some of the best beer in the entire south. Their IPAs are on par with every other top brewery in the country.

Heist's social media communication regarding availability both in advance of, and during their popular releases is poor in comparison to others at a similar growth stage.

I remain a huge Heist supporter. Pointing out poor communication is not a nit pic or a slam on their business, it is mild critique. A large majority of successful craft and nano brands own the social media communication game with their customers. I understand what is involved with an intensive capital build out, but I'll maintain that Heist was slow to react to their success.

Heist is going to do just fine because a great product will carry a brand a long way. I am sure that Heist will improve their communication game.

You also gotta hand it to Heist for sticking with a lineup that features multiple styles. Right now they have 10 beers on tap and only 2/10 are IPAs. Other places would have switched half or more of their menu to IPAs if they had the hype Heist is dealing with right now. I appreciate Heist's self discipline in resisting turning themselves into an IPA factory to capitalize on their popularity.

Now, if they could just add Crowlers availability for the beers on their Untappd Venue page, they'd be golden.

I love IPA's so I guess I'm biased, but I was a bit bummed that they only had one on last time I was there. I am all about walking into a place that has 4-5 (or more) IPA's on if they're doing them well. Probably why I like visiting a lot of the Richmond breweries so much.

Thirst and Citraquential available the past few days and last night in crowlers when I was there. Sorry for folks that are upset a brewery does not produce enough beer or expand fast enough to meet their demands.

Citra was a little aggressive on tap, but I opened a crowler just 2 days after it was released and it was fantastic btw. Seems their stuff is pretty bitter right out the gate and is prime about 2 days to 10 days after its released in my experience.

Good to know, mine was filled Thursday. Don't usually mind the bitterness though.

Mine too. The only one I've had that was too bitter for me (as I like bitter IPAs), was NFC 10 right when it was put on tap. And the rumor is that it was supposed to be citra, but ended up a little different so it was NFC10.

Thirst is the recipe of NFC 4. They liked it so much they made it a regular beer.

How does Heist have "poor communication"? I don't think the statement is a slam but simply inaccurate. They sell out at nearly every release in a matter of hours. Clearly people are aware of what is going on there. I also think "slow to react to their success" is painting with broad strokes and a little bit of a naïve assessment. These guys quickly pivoted to canning once understanding the demand for their IPAs, they expanded to the Canteen right next door which was a very quick turnaround and acquired space for a production facility/bakery/butchery/etc that will be opening in the upcoming months. All the while continuing to meet the demands of being a brewpub. The Heist Crew is crushing it all the way around!!
