So excited to finally get ahold of one of these - the last single on the shelf last night -
I had to crack it as soon as I got up - good stuff- and a good start to this Academy Awards weekend !

Good morning BA, have a great Saturday! It's been a really rough week. Hoping to recover this weekend. Still have quite a lot of work to finish up before Monday. Hoping to go out and get a nice haul today, I am running out of new beer to review again.

Awesome milk stout! Flavors of big milk chocolate, toasted coconut, vanilla, caramel, cream, brown sugar, cocoa, and brown bread; with light toffee, coffee, and dark fruit. Slight herbal hop and roast bitterness on the finish. Medium bodied with a fantastic creamy, silky, velvety mouthfeel. Minimal dryness. Amazingly well balanced and rich for the 6% ABV. Very drinkable. Glad I got a 4 pack, knew it would not disappoint. Another go-to coconut beer favorite. I think this is a seasonal, but they need to make it year round IMO.

Still tasting great! Glad they changed to 6 packs last year. Flavors of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, pineapple, citrus rind, and pine hops; with moderate caramel, toasted biscuit malt sweetness; and floral/grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine/rind/grassy bitterness. Medium-plus bodied; balanced sticky/resins and creaminess in the mouthfeel. Increasingly resinous and drying. I love how this has a more balanced approach with the malt presence, feels really juicy. I love Cascade and Centennial.

Really nice. Flavors of lightly tart/tangy cherry, berries, apple, maple, brown sugar, caramel, vanilla, oak, and lightly toasted bread; with lighter notes of cinnamon, nuttiness, and bourbon. Light bourbon/oak spice and fruit tartness on the finish. Medium-full bodied with nice grainy creaminess; slight fruit acidity, barrel tannin, and slick/syrupy fruit notes in the mouthfeel. A little drying from oak, but otherwise really well balanced. Not too sweet or heavy at all, very drinkable. Not a whole lot of bourbon, but barrel characteristics are all there with the vanilla and toasty oak/spicy notes. No warming ABV or boozy barrel character. Glad I got the full 4 pack. More Koz surfaced last week, so I grabbed more.

Amazing! Flavors of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, toasted oak, spicy rye whiskey, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, and dark bread; with lighter notes of smoke, char, raisin, coconut, and molasses. Light-moderate roast/char and herbal/pine hop bitterness; some whiskey/oak spice as well. Full bodied creamy/silky mouthfeel; light chalky roast, sticky hops, and tannic oak balance. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering char/hop bitterness and oak tannins. Incredibly smooth and well balanced. Mildly warming, with no boozy barrel notes. The classic base beer complexities are all there, with nice added barrel flavor components that don't overwhelm or dry out the beer too much. Incredible stuff.

    Cheers

    Grapefruit with breakfast . . .

    Score 3.7
    look: 3.25 | aroma: 3.75 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.75

Light, hazy yellow color with white cap and good lacing.

Aroma is grapefruit. Not sweet grapefruit, rather a dry yet full scent. Enough to cover up everything else though.

Flavor is surprisingly full in comparison, much richer than the scent. Also a sense of sweetness to offset the tart grapefruit. It's got hops in there (11 IBU) but I can't detect them unless it's that bit of sharpness in the finish. For my taste the weiss brew is only a carrier but it's presence really isn't needed. It's all about the grapefruit and that act is well performed.

    Light (natch) body.

Overall it's a very flavorful, easily drinkable, light summer brew that's not too heavy, not too tart, not too sweet. Goldilocks might like it.

Morning BA! Interesting one from Founders. Each component of the beer stands out but its a little too sweet for me. Cheers!

Good morning BAs! Well, less than 24 hours and my computer is still working - the real test is after 48 hours. Today's New Breakfast Beer is:

Nope, that didn't work either. I'm having problems posting pix using Imgur (which I've always used) while using Firefox as my browser. Formerly I used Chrome but now it locks me up and blows out my wifi. Any suggestions?

    Lovely spring morning, here...

That symbol on Old Ox's Brew Bocka is appropriate for the time of year, but not the current weather. The beer is a nice light beer with a decent coffee to malty beer ratio. Nice for an fairly early entry on WBAYDN. Watching 30 for 30 on Phi Slamma Jamma to ease into the day.

Ok, the GF is up, so I can grab a bigger pot of roasted goodness:

Not a big fan of most Brothers Craft Brewing beers, but this Smooth Sailor I grab each time I see it. This actually has a little bite to it - not sure if the vanilla bean is more powerful, or its the extra roastiness than I recall from previous versions.

(note: the label is a little more like the top left photo, no idea how the colors came out so differently in the bottom one)
