Started my day with a visit to the dentist, always an enjoyable experience.

A bit early for me on a Wednesday, but it's a cloudy, cool and wet day following the severe weather yesterday that doesn't find me too motivated. We were largely spared of serious damage unlike our neighbors in Illinois that saw tornadoes. This has probably been one of the strangest winters in my life. The frogs are already peeping and the shrubs are starting to bloom. There's some snow in the forecast for later today and tomorrow. The extended forecast has it hitting 60 again this weekend. Crazy!

Time to drink this older Bomb as I spied multiple cases dropped at various locations here. I'd buy this beer by the case if it wasn't so damn expensive! I'll open my wallet and buy a few to get my fix. This is easy drinking to the point of being dangerous! I'm off to feed the birds and park my rear on the couch. Have a stellar day!

 

Having a Spitsbergen Pilsner. With in the background Nøgne Ø Dark Horizon (5th edition). Not opening this Dark Horizon yet. I'm planning to keep it for at least till the end of this year.

Bunch of morning chores done, break before afternoon chores is some laundry and a beer.

Anybody else have so many paczkis yesterday they felt like this?

 

Your Mom on French Toast! This stuff is great! Loads of maple syrup with a touch of vanilla....tastes just like French toast.

look: 3.75 | aroma: 3.5 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.75

Deep amber gold with ruby highlights, moderate cap that quickly dissipates, little lacing.

Aroma of caramel, toffeeish malt or, perhaps that's the maple, citrus, pine and a hint of oak.

Flavor is dryer than expected. Fairly heavy sweet malt is quickly overtaken and covered by piney hops. That remains the flavor to the finish when the maple and oak kick in both lingering in the aftertaste. Last sensation is hoppy, piney bitterness.

Texture is somehow thin and medium at the same time. Donno, that's a first for me.

Overall a disappointment. Like a showy muscled weightlifter who isn't very athletic. The elements are there, lotsa malt, hops, maple, oak, all of which manage to be present without coming together as a whole. Like a beer designed by committee. Oh well, taste is pretty decent and it goes well with a bacon cheeseburger.

 

Laundry is folded and put away.
Cleared out the beer fridge to make room for more.
