My FedEx used to be this way until about a year ago when they became really aggressive about questioning and demanding to open boxes to verify it wasn't alcohol.I switched to scheduling pickup at my office and it's been the absolute best. Super easy with no issues.

Yep, shipping olive oil works for me too. Never had a problem telling them that.

    Pickles, salsa and jam/jelly.

Thankfully my wife goes nuts canning every summer... I even went so far as to give them some jars of homemade goodies for Christmas a couple years ago.

Find an Office Depot/office max/kinkos and preprint the label and just take it in there to drop it off. Never any questions. Had an issue at local pack and ship when I was sendinf out boxes with labels from someone else. That's when I decided to go to Office Depot and perfect situation....outside the snowbirds making my drive twice as long lol.

I use a bigger box and more padding. I won't ship a box if I can hear any slosh. The FX I ship from never asks shit, they just take the box. The UPS used to ask so I dropped them. Ive shipped 8 beers in a 16 cube box, especially if they're hard to get beers I can't replace.ive double boxed. A few xtra bucks for shipping is insignificant compared to losing beers a guys waiting for. I've lost a box or two, I think we all have, but it's not from sloppy packing. If you make a box silent they've no reason to look closer, especially among the thousands they're processing.m

How my interaction usually goes if they ask me specifics on what I'm shipping:

    "yes, it's beer globes"
    "I beg your pardon?"
"ah shoot, I mean snow beers"
    "sir, are you shipping alcohol?"

... and then I walk out and drive to the post office on the other side of town.

I just had a box attempt to deliver that is now being "returned for inspection" to a friend in atlanta. How worried should I be?

If something is broken they will probably remove and then send the rest back to the sender. I have heard in this forum that people have called the facility directly and are allowed to go pick the package up. I have no personal experience with this.

I have had one box shipped back to me with all the contents except one can that they said leaked.

My recipient is calling FedEx now to see I he can pick it up. Seems stupid for them to ship it all the way back to me when the box is 20 miles from my friend.

    Hoping for a positive outcome.

One of my trading buddies always puts "Fragile - Contains Marinades" on the box. I usually get a shipment from him about once a week. The UPS guy must think I eat a pallet of steak a week.

Me too! Then sometimes I'll have to explain what Kombucha is. They always look confused!

I've been seeing a crackdown in my area and nearby areas where boxes are being pulled by FedEx. My driver opened my boxes on his truck just from a little sloshing noise. My second trip to the FedEx distro center to retrieve I got a lecture. When asked why a driver is opening boxes without consent he had nothing to say. UPS it is.

I always double box. Greatly reduces sloshing. Even if they are laying down in inner box i never hear the slosh. Of course it ups the shipping cost slight. I tell them it's candles or kombucha usually kombucha Incase they hear sloshing. I do make kombucha so no big deal there and i do get more then i can drink.

I've had to switch to Fed Ex Office from UPS. UPS would ask about contents almost every time, then took it to the next level and opened a box. They called and told me to come back and pick up my boxes before they were "destroyed."

Fed Ex Office takes boxes with a smile and no questions (knock on wood). They are less convenient but effective.
