I'm going to be down in DC for work this week, and looking to drink some local beers while down there. Any must-hit bars/bottle shops/particular beers to look out for? I will be in Dupont Circle, fwiw. Thanks!!

Are you driving your own car/have a car? Recommend to drive up to Frederick on Thurs/Friday. After 4pm most breweries taprooms are open. Here are breweries all within 5min drive or less from each other (Barley and Hops is the outlyer maybe 10 min away), easy parking everywhere and minimal traffic to deal with:

    Brewer's Alley
    Monocacy
    Attaboy -just opened this week
Rockwell - just opened this week
    Olde Mother
    Barley and Hops

Barley and Hops and Brewers serve food. Other 4 will let you bring in food. I may be missing a few but those are in just within Frederick City limits.

Or another option is go out to NOVA near Dulles Airport and hit Aslin, Ocelot and a few others.

Walk to Churchkey and stumble home.

Do not go all the way to Frederick, that is ridiculous.

No car, but willing to uber around DC. I have family in Frederick, so will be back there at some point, but not this time around.

I think i know the answer to this, but does the veil distribute anything up to DC?

I figured if he drove down from NY, he could hit Frederick en route home as a possible option. Churchkey is "highest rated" bar in DC, and I'm sure in Dupont Circle area there is alot of restaurants/bars with top-shelf craft options. DC is not cheap however so be ready to spend some coin on food and drinks.

Churchkey usually has their stuff on tap. Though with recent shortages of draft at The Veil, I don't know if they'll be sending much up here anymore.

A lot of Veil and Richmond offerings (the answer, triple crossing) are offered at neighborhood restaurant group locations (churchkey, sovereign, a new burger place in DuPont). In addition to churchkey, I'd recommend pizza Paradiso which is in dupont. Best bottle shops in the area are Whole Foods P street and Connecticut Ave wine and liquor.

Pizzaria Paradiso in Dupont. Aside from some of the obvious. Glenn's Garden Market is a good spot for some local beer. Can walk to Adams Morgan and hit the trifecta of Smoke & Barrel, Black Squirrel, and Jack Rose.

Right Proper brewpub. Especially if you're into funky/farmhouse stuff.

I highly recommend Right and Proper and Bluejacket. As far as stores are concerned, Craft Beer Cellar is a few metro stops from Right and Proper and is excellent.

DC Brau, Hellbender, and 3 Stars aren't metro accessible but Churchkey is and it has a great selection.

If you're bothering to venture outside the city, head to Loudoun county, not Frederick.

Aslin can release on Thurs, growler fills on Fri. You could uber there. If you're asking about the Veil, you'd probably like Aslin.

I'd love to be able to get out there, but looks to be a ~$30-40 uber each way. Not sure I can justify 70 bucks in order to pay another 60-70 on beer. Maybe another time!

You could take the Metro (Silver Line) to the last stop at Wiehle Ave, then it's just a few miles from there. Much cheaper. Or you could just walk to Churchkey etc.

Since you said Dupont, I'd recommend the Red Apron Burger Bar for a really good taplist. Churchkey has, in my opinion, the best taplist in the area. Over in the Chinatown/Verizon Center area, RFD, The Partisan, and Penn Social usually have tasty stuff on tap. If its nice out, some places by the ballpark waterfront are cool: BlueJacket, Whaley's, etc.

I think this might be my choice, as it is down the street from my hotel. Never had Wicked Weed but it's on my beer to do list, so looking forward to Pernicious.

Pizza Paradiso in Dupont always has a nice 10 tap draft list.
