Sorry to hear the sad news of yet another local OC brewery closing its doors.

I could say I heard about this a while back and now thats it's official it's still bad news for the craft business in the OC. But I have a feeling that when bad news hits, good news will be just around the corner. I have a feeling bigger and better things are a coming soon.

Damn, it's one of the first places I ever went to when I first got into craft beer. A shame to see it go.

Thank God it's closing. Finally went to this place yesterday and from the vaping/smoking literally outside the brewery to the candy store beers and the cougar mom hop bus tours that visited playing jenga I had enough that I'd never go back or buy their shit again. Godspeed hippie brewery

That's a bummer - always sad to see a hard working honest small business go out of business ... I was at their grand opening in 2013, guess I'll go on March 31 so I can say I've literally been there cradle to grave. Always dug their Cherney Medved RIS.

Cherny was great. Some IPAs average to good. Some others were straight terrible though.

With the saturation in the market, there will surely be more to follow.

Never tried their beers but sad to see anyone's dream end. Hopefully their experience here allows for greater success in the future.

Brian and crew were always good to me. I am sad to see them close. Best of luck to them in the future.

Closest brewery to me. Even walked there once just for the hell of it, 8.5 miles round trip. Every business has its beginning and end, breweries included.

Always enjoyed visiting with Brian and the crew over there. They have been awesome to me over the years, and it's sad to see this have to turn out this way and a dream never be fully realized. There are so many other breweries that I would have expected this news out of before this one. Going to have to hit the tasting room sometime in the next few weeks.

I'm a little surprised he decided to close the business instead of take on investors. Makes me wonder if after almost a decade of planning, building, and brewing, that the professional brewer's life wasn't quite what he imagined when he was a homebrewer. Regardless, I'm glad he got the opportunity to pursue his dream and go out on his own terms. Best of luck to them in the future.

Folks, unless you have opened and operated your own business you have no idea what it is like. 8 years is a long time of your life to invest in a business.

Thanks for sharing your beer with us Brian. At least you won't have to say, "I wonder what would have happened if I opened a brewery." Best of luck on your next adventure.

    Wow! Harsh. Hippie Brewery ?!?!

Try to think about something outside of yourself for a moment. Here is a small businessman who risked his family's security to pursue a dream. Most people never take that risk. You'll probably never do anything original so you won't have to suffer inconsiderate jerks criticizing your art.

You can blame Phantom Ales for the cougar Beer Bus.

I'm sorry you're a fan of this brewery and you don't like my "harsh" comments on the brewery. I gave it the review it deserves on my behalf and you're here whining like I shouldn't say anything negative about the brewery or its practice or how it operates. Sure it sucks his goal to do something didn't work out, and obviously maybe the reasons I mentioned could be a cause of it or not. Either way it's business and once it's gone another one will open up. Get over it.

True, maybe if you had shared your wisdom about not allowing party buses earlier, the business would have been saved. We'll never know now.

Still, no need to go full heel and celebrate the failure of a small business. I say that not as someone who is a fan of the brewery, but as a person capable of empathy.

I actually said Godspeed, which 3 people seemed to purposely not to notice so there's no negative celebration in that..but considering I've never visited this place until finally on the weekend and expectations were beyond below of what I expected, I can see why it's closing based on my observations. Some of you guys are sensitive beer snobs :grinning:
