But they MIGHT have hoppy beers there!! Do you know anywhere else to get them, GENIUS?

(150-200 people in that little tasting room and a single-stall bathroom.... hard pass)

Oh, not interested in going to their anniversary. Or anybody's else anniversary or any beer fest (Sabroso or sabrosa fest, etc.). I don't do fest. Not my thing. I was just curious how Monks was doing their anny party. Nothing like most brewery's. I don't think I heard any brewery's around here that is letting in everybody for free in allotted times before. Except for Beach City (remember them?). I don't see why they just don't sell online tickets for this event with time slots.

"Our parking lot will open at 9am Saturday. Security will be enforcing this. As always: NO LINECUTTING[IMG]⚔️, NO DRINKING IN LINE [IMG][IMG], and NO LITTERING[IMG]! If you are caught in violation, you will not be allowed in to the party."

I guarantee that all three of those no-no's will be going on. "As always". haha.
I guess if they put it in writing, if anything happens, they aren't liable right?

I'm sure they could have sold tickets and broken up the festivities into different sessions, but that would be lame. They need to have a perpetual line for hype, and spank bank material.

Fire Marshal: I hope you're happy. 10 people died during the stampede, and you got babies sitting on top of tables.

Monkish: It's okay, we checked their ID's, and we're not serving them. They're just saving their parent's table.

    Fire Marshal: Oh my God.

Monkish: I know, I've never seen such carnage. I tried to hold back but seeing all these checkin's and mentions on social media, I couldn't help but release in my pants.

Cop: Hey!!! Two toddlers just pushed each other off a table!!! We need an ambulance!!!

    Monkish: Oh god hilkjksjfkewjfe sorry...

    Fire Marshal: Again?!

Monkish: *takes deep breath Oh yeah..wow...mmmm...that was a lot.

    MONKISH BOARD MEETING:

    OK, imagine Black Friday...

    ...Yes...

But instead of leaving the store, people linger there for hours, consuming alcohol...

    ...OK...

And there is only one bathroom in the entire store.

...AMAZING!!! But... hear me out here... how next level would it be if we add in a limited edition TEKU?

[Teary eyed] Our work here is done.

I'll be in LA at around 6:00, with no place to stay and nothing to do, so I've decided to wait out for Monkish. It will be my first time at the brewery so I'm looking to clear up some things about the line.

How is the line going to develop with it not being allowed to form until 9:00? Is it really going to be a stampede? Where should I wait since I'll be there (not by choice) well before 9:00? I can't afford to stay past 12:40 so anything else I can do to make sure I'm one of the first people into the brewery?

Are you from out of the area? I'd implore you to spend a half-day enjoying the LA beer/food scene in so so so many other ways besides this.

Yeah, I'm from Berkeley. I do have family in LA though, so I visit every couple months, and will have future opportunities to try the beer scene. While I'm there on Saturday, though, I won't have a car so I'm limited to doing just one or two things before I gotta leave.

They don't, uh, have...er...enough storage space? Shit, I don't know. Ticket sales for timed slots sounds like a no-brainer.

My guess is there will be a line forming before 9 at the property line along the sidewalk of Western Ave. With a security guard making sure no one crosses that line before 9. At 9, the line will transfer from the public sidewalk to the brewery door. How civil this transfer will be is unknown.

Honestly, I'd go to the bruery, bottle logic, and noble if you're able to. If not, there are a lot of other spots in L.A. Wait till Sunday, just negotiate your way around corpses.

As someone who used to live in Berkeley I have some questions.

You're visiting your first brewery and choosing Monkish as the one on the day it will most assuredly be a major shit show? My dude, you have Rare Barrel and Fieldwork in Berkeley! Why have you not hit them up yet?! Not to mention Jupiter and Triple Rock if you want to hit up some mainstays.

Also, why not go to Smog City? It's only a few blocks away from Monkish. Sure, there's going to be spillover from the anniversary crowd but it won't be as bad.

Are you flying in to LAX? LA is massive and traffic sucks even on weekends. You might be spending a small fortune on uber rides. If you can take a train from LAX to Downtown LA you can check out Mumford Brewing, Mikkeler Bar and then maybe take a shorter uber to Highland Park Brewery.

You could also chill at Venice beach and wait for Firestone Venice to open up.

I read it as his first time at THE brewery, not A brewery.
