You know I don't regularly wear glasses everyday, but when I read I do,but I can't read a Hydrometer for the life of me.Can't see what's what even with my reading glasses. There has been a time when my allergies weren't bad and I get a reading, but bottom line is there a DIGITAL one,,my lands that would simplify this reading a lot, otherwise I think I will quit taking the reading. I mean it would be nice to be able to get a reading and tell.

I think refractometers have a digital display, could be wrong though...

They do make a less expensive version for around two grand, but why screw around?:wink:

No clue, I've never seen one, just assumed they were, guess not.

The below video demonstrates how the display of a refractometer works.

    Cheers!

They use light diffused through the sample of wort. I have one for brewing, one for checking gravity of batteries and coolant, and another for checking gravity on diesel emissions fluid. They are really handy and simple to use.

Larry, while a refractometer works for unfermented wort, you need some math and the og to figure out where you stop post fermentation.

Larry - A cheat I use sometimes is to take a photo of the hydrometer-wort/beer interface with my phone. Then I can zoom that in and read it accurately. I keep a pair of $1 reading glasses in the brew zone, but with this slimy trick I'm home free.

    Cheers!
