Do they fill crowlers or growlers?

I'm excited to hear the positive reports. This is one of the closest breweries to me (closest is Burning Brothers) and I was hoping it will be not just OK (or even bad) like so many other new breweries. I've known Bob since he was brewing at HOPS (?) and then Great Waters. I always thought the beer at GW was very good when he was there. I don't think I ever tried any Excelsior beer. At any rate I would assume he has the experience and skill to make clean, consistently good beer. I hope to get there soon.

They're just getting their feet wet with having the doors open, give them some time to get things figured out.

The staff are pretty young and new / fresh to the dynamics of the Taproom universe. They're picking it up fast. In another month, who knows?

Food trucks + filling other growlers is what I anticipate. And then crowlers = Love.

Was just curious, based on their brewing capacity, I assumed having enough to serve the taproom patrons and growlers to go wouldn't be an issue. I completely understand getting their feet wet and was more responding to them wanting a crowler machine.

I like crowlers for certain times, but personally hope they don't replace growlers. Kind of like breweries selling bombers and 750's over 6pks. I understand high abv beers (10% and above), but not a 7% IPA. This isn't directed at blackstack, and I look forward to visiting them this weekend. It's just a trend I've noticed that I find less than desirable.

I have not talked to Scott or Bob about this but growlers are a PITA.

Someone brings in a dirty growler, they fill it and it sits in the back of the frig until Friday. The growler owner brings it over to a friends house and everyone hates it (and BlackStack). It is infected from the dirty growler not the beer.

Filling growlers at the tap is very wasteful. A lot of foam gets created and dumped.

If it is busy, it would be better for BlackStack to fill pints then growlers. I know Birches on the Lake requested growler fills not during busy Friday and Saturday nights.

A growler filler is an additional expense and are not cheap.

Growlers are expensive to manage (time to wash growlers, fill them, and a frig to store them).

Personally, I really like having a growler to bring home to share with friends. I hope they figure something out.

Stopped by Blackstack this afternoon. My $0.02: Local 755 is a really solid IPA, especially when you consider its one of the very first offerings from the brewery. However, I wouldn't really classify it as NE Style. It's low on bitterness, but that's about where any comparisons end for me. That said, really cool space and good beer. I also tried the dark saison, which was nice. I will be back for sure.

I stopped by this evening. Definitely wouldn't classify it as a NE IPA either.

So Local 775 doesn't look like the super hazy beer they hyped for months on social media? Bummer.
