Ever have a great experience with only a "good" beer?

There's a style bias in the ratings, so you're better off trusting your own instincts with stuff like that anyway.

 

Almost every beer I enjoy among my very few but close friends. I could be drinking ice-cold gasoline-flavored swill and would still enjoy it as long as I'm in their company haha.

 

Not every injury you acquire with a scar to talk about needs to be epic. Sometimes the uninteresting ones that came from an otherwise dull day look the gnarliest. i.e. I've had plenty of great experiences with "okay" beer.

 

I felt the same way about their Summer Ale last year. I haven't had Fresh As Helles yet. I am pretty curious to try it.

 

New Belgium sommersault. I loved that beer and have been hoping for a mixed pack that has it the last three summers.

 

Funny, I came across this after whilst sipping a Colt 45 Double Malt...and I pulled this out of my fridge over Jai Alai, Daisy Cutter and Carton Unjunct (among several others). Why? Because I felt like it. Cheers!

 

SNPA is a beer without flaw. It's a sad day when it's considered just a good beer. It actually blows me away more now than it ever has in the past, now that my 15 years of geeking out on beer has come full circle.

 

Southern tier harvest ale was that beer for me a few falls ago. Really solid beer that was just exactly what I was craving at that point in life. Drank a BUNCH of it that year

 

I hope it's never considered just a 'good' beer. It's a classic beer.

 

I can't recall a single peak experience in my life that was the result of drinking a beer. Peak experiences come from where you were, what you were doing, who you were with, and, most of all, what you took away from it. A good (or great) beer is just the cherry on top.

 

I've become a prisoner of my own taste buds and it totally sucks. Sometimes I just want to enjoy a beer, any beer, in whatever situation I'm in, and not even think about it in any way. Shame on me.

 

No... but I understand, .... Until recently, like the past month or two, most of the bars I frequented (usually for seeing bands) only had BMC and I usually had to be content with PBR. Now however they have Deep Ellum IPA (actually a above average beer) and Firestone Walker Easy Jack, (a slightly above average session IPA) and I couldn't be happier.

 

My wife and I like to have our "beer tasting" nights on the few nights I get off. Fresh As Helles was a pretty good beer. Yet we have sampled a few beers that we would rate higher than average over the other reviews that is. There have also been, unfortunately, some mutual drain pours. It is all going to lean towards that what works for you beer style. And there are a lot of them out there so don't be afraid to try them!
Me and the wife sampled some Gulden Draak recently that we paid about $20 for a four pack of 11 oz, bottles. Damn shame we could not finish either 11 oz. glassful, as it did not sit well with either one of us, but we still enjoyed it. So a WORLD CLASS beer neither my wife or I enjoyed? Not a problem. I can find a friend that would enjoy the donation of the other two bottles and we move on. Beer is a weird temptress and when you get pulled into her siren song you will soon find yourself sampling many good, great and not so great samples of any variety.
The main thing is that you enjoy the experience!

 

I love my Craft brews as much as the next BA, but there are times when I really crave a Budweiser. When I want something ice cold, simple, and refreshing, Bud is that beer for me.

No, Bud isn't better tasting than the majority of craft brews, but it does the job when I need it to.

 

We on this site spend entirely too much time worrying about the rating level of our beers. Its not best beer advocate, we should feel fine just drinking what we enjoy. Screw the latest, greatest mentality. Drink a good beer, enjoy yourself. That's all there is to it. Bud lite and heady topper end up in the same porcelain receptacle in an hour anyway!

 

SA Octoberfest will forever be a sweet, carmely, nostalgic, enjoyable experience for me each fall.
