As long as demand exceeds supply, this argument will rage on. Many good points made by both sides though here. But OH is cranking out beer EVERY week now. Blame the hoarders, tickers, resellers, traders, gotta have em all, hypsters, line drinkers for the beer selling quickly every week.

BTW,lost in the shuffle was the fact there was less yield of cans so they could send more kegs around city, that is a huge benefit for many people.

Was just posting same thing. Definitely bad maths haha

Think it would be more like 500-600 cans to hit that number

Yeah, pretty sure he used about 200 calories per ounce instead of per can. By that math every can would be over 3,000 calories.

    So what's the next release?

Daydream is awesome gonna probably open my growler of dream in green and have them side by side. initial remarks is that the lactose sugar really melds well with the dry hopping and oats I agree almost tired hands milkshake like.

Algebraic errors aside, given the increasing experimentation using lactose sugar, fruit puree, flaked oats, wheat, etc., I am genuinely interested the caloric content of some of these NE IPAs...

I'm also curious as to the caloric content of these beers, although I don't see OH providing Nutritional Facts on their labels in the near future. I imagine the sticker shock would not be too surprising, considering how exponentially my gut has expanded since discovering OH.

Also, DDH Mylar is up there with my top 5 favorite beers ever.

I've also way gone under the assumption that a 16oz DIPA can was probably around 350 cals.

I don't really want to know! But it is getting harder and harder to work out enough to keep the weight off the older I get.

Given the last few pages, I imagine this post might get some blow back, but still feel worth posting. Has anybody noticed a recent drop off in the customer service/staff friendliness at OH. The last two times I have been there not for cab releases (no complaints at all there, I think they do a fantastic job), I have had a couple of lousy experiences with the guy watching the door (newer guy, as far as I can tell) and with bartenders (also seem
to be new, but I could be wrong as I am not an every weekend at OH). Granted it's been packed to the gills, but it's still been a bummer. I realize the bartenders can't spend as much time shooting the breeze as they used to with smaller crowds, but the rudeness and shortness I've witnessed the last few times has left me a bit bummed.

At the risk of unleashing a torrent of angry responses here, I'm curious if I'm alone in feeling this way? It could totally be just isolated incidents, or just a byproduct of it being packed the last few times, but just a bit frustrated at the experience.

I've never had a complaint about anyone that works there. I understand that when I go it's packed and they need to get people in and out. Everyone seems to be reasonably pleasant and work their asses off on can release days.

Nah i screwed up the math. Thats what I get for doing itafter a 4 DIPA's. It would only take around 80 miles to burn off 72 cans.

It's 1 mile per 190 calories at 8 minutes per mile. So 1 can is a little more than a mile unless its around 350 cals I'm being safe in my estimate. (https://beercritic.wordpress.com/beer-calorie-cheatsheet/)

    Editing original post.

edit: can't edit but you get my point.

I see thats for 12 oz beers so I think a 350 calorie estimate is safe.

    so 1 16oz can = 350 calories
    1 mile ran = 190 calories

    1 can/miles = 1.84 miles.

Theres a reason the brooklyn half sold out in 20 minutes this year.

Just got back home from NYC Half this morning. According to my Garmin watch, I burned 1866 calories going 13.29 miles at a 8:37 pace. Challenge accepted.

Craft beer forced me into being a runner. I hear more and more people saying the same story.

I ran 9 miles this morning just because I knew I'd be doing some fridge clearing this afternoon.

Also did 9 miles this AM. If you're burning 190 calories per mile then you're either running 5 min miles and/or are a heavier chap. I averaged 6:15 and burned around 1300

But yeah beer has made me run / ride more than ever

dhaakon Pundit (851) May 30, 2005 New York

yeah so its closer to 3 miles per 16oz can for me.

    1 mile at 7min/mile is 120 calories.

nice pace with 6:15 at 9 min btw.
