I mean, it's not the most exciting style but still cool to see Summit doing new stuff. I appreciate a pint or two of a solid well made wit beer in the summer from time-to-time. I was just talking to a friend recently about how it seems the local craft brewery boom has really pushed Summit to expand their portfolio and how they've been putting out some really solid new stuff.

Nice. There aren't a lot of good, light, crushable craft beers available in cans (which are nice for camping and such in the summer). This looks great. I see they have some acidulated malt in the grain bill, so it should have a nice bit of quenchable tartness. It's a shame that they'll be available in a sampler box rather than by themselves.

Well, yes (I'd prefer to be able to buy it separately, too), but I'd point out the sampler box also contains the wonderful Keller Pils (from their 30th Anniversary beers) and the return of the Summit Hefe. Along with their Kölsch (aka Summer Ale) to round out the 4 styles, it should be a pretty good collection.

I'd second that. Wish breweries wouldn't do this, but oh well.

My criticism of the sampler pack is more philosophical, I guess. This particular pack does look pretty solid.

As a side note, Summit has really been on a roll lately. From Old Blaggard, to Keller Pils, to Dark Infusion, they've been knocking them out of the park this past year.

I don't like the sampler pack exclusivity when there's a beer in particular I'd prefer to buy by the caseload, as is the case with Schell's Dortmunder/Export Lager in the Frost Hop 12pk and Keller Pils will be in this upcoming mixed 12pk. I went through 4 CS of Keller Pils last year so this will be taunting me. That and the hopped up märzen from a few years ago are beers Summit could make time and time again and I would buy as much as possible if they did not require me to purchase other beers alongside it.

Anybody know how this is different than the Summit Scandia White Ale they brewed a while back?

This sounds perfect. I will be buying quite a few of these.

I tend to agree, though since Summer Ale might be my favorite Summit seasonal, this whole 12 pack is right in my wheelhouse. As a rule, though, I'm not a huge fan of limited time beers being made only in mixed 12 packs. Glad they aren't putting EPA in this pack. Sierra Nevada ALWAYS seems to put SNPA in their mixed packs. Love SNPA, but why not put something special and seasonal in your mix packs?

BTW, does anyone know if this will be the old Summit Hefe that they discontinued a few year back or a new recipe?

It has "few slight tweaks", according to Summit.
