Sure, but there's a limit to what I'll go through to obtain a product or have a certain experience. For example, I'm not driving an hour and half a waiting another hour for Tree House beer - nor am I waiting in an hour line to go drink in a brewery taproom, no matter how good they are. There comes a point where I move on to other products and activities that don't take as much time or aggravation.

On another note, cool to see their distro biz picking up.

Hey @masterob8 will the new OHTT hit distro in Boston or should I come to you?

Coming to us is always a great option! OHTT always goes out to disro so if you can't visit us your local NSB store should get some next week.

@masterob8 what's your recommendation for first-time Barrel Society members? Should we be hitting up the brewery quickly after a special release hits, or is there leeway for timing?

I'm obviously not @masterob8 but the brewery seems to have been packaging much more of each NSBS beer for draft since 2015. I have not had much issue getting NSBS pours, even 2+ weeks after a release.

The NSBS emails usually note if anything will be in short draft supply. If you were referring to bottles, you have until January 31, 2018 to pick everything up.

We try our best to have the beer on tap for multiple weeks after each release. That give you the chance to taste the beer without cracking into your bottles. Then decide if you want to age or drink now. Your bottles are safe till Jan 30th of 2018. So no need to rush in to snag those. The only real urgency is trying it on draft. But you usually have a few weeks of time there.

Swung by at lunch today to pick up my glasses and T-shirt. I was really surprised that it was relatively busy on a Thursday afternoon. Gotta love the setup, and a pour of Sore Loser doesn't hurt, either.

Walked over from Wellington today. The snow, ice and rotary made the journey hilarious. Was jonesing for some Santilli (been months since my last can) and haven't seen any fresh cans distroed near me recently. Impressive how many different cans are available. They've got range!

@masterob8 Any chance you can do away with the javascript on your On Tap page that just autopopulates the current date next to "Updated: " and replace with a manually entered date that actutally reflects the date taplist was updated? The current setup is a little dishonest...

How is it dishonest? The page is updated daily and often multiple times a day. Before opening and closing the managers in the taproom make sure the On Tap page is accurate. We believe keeping that page accurate is a key component to the success of our taproom experience.

    Have you noticed a discrepancy?

I have no problem with it, but i guess it could be "dishonest" if the manager forgets one day and what's online automatically says it was updated, but it's really a day old.

Well, I said it was "a little dishonest", in that you're saying the page was updated on a given date when it actually wasn't (yet).

And yes, a discrepancy was how I initally noticed it. It was on a day of some release of Morph or OHTT several weeks back. I checked the website first thing in the morning and saw that the on tap list had been "updated" already today and that the previous Morph/OHTT was still available. I ended up checking it a little later, still prior to opening, and noticed that the old Morph/OHTT had been removed and that new one had been added (had been hoping to grab the last batch as well). That made me a little suspicious of the "updated" date. Recently, I checked a little after midnight one night and noticed that the "updated" date had already been updated to the new date. That's when I checked the source and found the javascript.

Obviously it's not a federal crime or anything, but a more honest approach would be either to put a disclaimer like you just stated and/or do away with the date. Don't get me wrong, I am a HUGE fan of how much you guys update that page and think other breweries should follow suit. I was just a little disheartened to see the "updated" date wasn't actually what it claimed to be.

    OHTT: Ella is unbelievable, btw.

Clever. They should use a blockchain solution instead to create a better audit trail of updates. ;-) I'm also surprised that it's apparently impossible to sync a POS with a website--the POS seems to always be accurate at any restaurant/bar/etc.

It is an interesting social experiment though. Write "we update this every day when we open" and people probably don't believe it and call incessantly. Have a line of js that autofills today's date and no one bothers you.

I contrast this with Trillium's availability where, you look at the page while you're drinking your morning coffee and, by the time you get to the brewery two hours later, it's a totally different line up - none of which were on the Up Next list.

As a beer consumer, I find my best strategy is to never have a plan and to be a total **** and like everything.

Just to toss out my first post on this forum - and regarding Hopscape. First - I get it - Sam Adams doesn't get a good shake/review because of the volume this brewery is putting out. People in this community tend to dismiss the big boys and that's fine because I love the artisans - the people that brew for the love and still put passion into their craft, like River Horse and so many others. But...Sam Adams is the reason I like good beer. Back in 1989 I had my first good beer and it was the Boston Lager. Since then, I've brewed, wrote for industry papers, hosted brewing events, grown hybrid hops, raised and cared for rare yeast cultures and as far as I know, am the only guy that has ever brewed an IPA with a pound of cannabis in place of hops. (we know hops and cannabis to be in the same family, right?)
But to the point, the Hopscape seems to be getting a bad rap. I'm happy to drink this beer. In truth, it has no qualities of a wheat but I don't care. The name is hopscape - and it fulfills that promise. I'm a cascade kind of cat and this beer delivers on it's hoppy name. Fruity, with huge tones of grapefruit indicative of the northwestern creed of aromatic bud known as cascade. But the bud does not over power this beer as it is balanced well from start to finish. Again, I think Sam gets a bad rap because of its size. I'll admit, many of their offerings seem uninspired - and I wish they would curtail their menu but this one hit me right.
