If you're fortunate enough to win, can pickup be at a later date? I'm out of the country that April weekend...

Good luck with that. I won last years lottery and had a legitimate death in my family and couldn't make it. Brought in the obituary and everything and they wouldn't budge.

    Three thoughts:

    1. As someone who won the BPT race last year, this is the fairest way to handle the release.

    2. As someone who grew up in NJ, lived near and supported Kane before Kane was KANE, and still returns often despite living in a neighboring state, I genuinely hope this lottery isn't rigged in favor of Zip Codes that begin with 077.

    3. On the off chance this helps, I 100% endorse the idea of a bottle club that guarantees members access to releases like ANTEAD, the Brunches, etc. Just tell me the amount.

When it comes to membership, they don't need to reinvent the wheel. Just copy the Bruery model.
We can all use a piece of crap bottle opener.

Not familiar with Bruery club system. What is cost/benefit? Is there a guarantee on releases? Also where is it located? Is a club realistic at Kane given population density?

If I read correctly, if they are selected, they still have to pay on EventBrite via a separate transaction, and finally pick up during one of the two days.

That what I got from it also. I assume if people win and they do not pay another round of selections will go out to people. Seems pretty simple to me.

Probably less so. Previous sets are going for ~$50/bottle on the beer reselling sites. In past years that was a nice return on the resale at $25+ bottle. Now it'll be <$20 profit and only 5 bottles to sell. Why even bother?

    Hoarder Society member chiming in...

Cost/Benefit: You essentially pre-pay for a certain number of bottles of (mostly) highly sought after beers (roughly 1 case for RS, roughly 2 cases for HS). You also receive a discount (15% for RS, 20% for HS) for bottles purchased throughout the year.

Allotments: Each month you get an offering of many bottles. Unless you are severely addicted to alcohol and extremely rich, you can't possibly takedown an entire allocation. It is usually many bottles of 3-6 different beers with a Wish List option for more. After a 1-week guarantee window, you usually get a 2nd or 3rd chance offering. For Chocolate Rain for instance, I think I could have bought something like 36 bottles if I had purchased every bottle offered across the various windows. Only the first one was a strict "guarantee" though.

The Club is "located" in our hearts and minds  They Bruery tasting room (both of them) are in Orange County California (I think... I live in NJ and haven't ever been there). They allow out of state members, but shipping out of CA is illegal. (somehow not illegal for wine, but I digress). When I purchase my bottles, I have to have them re-shipped via a local trustee. Please don't judge my life choices.

Will it work for Kane? Not something on the scale of The Bruery's program. Their production is massive. Stuff like Chocolate Rain, a ~20% ABV BBA adjunct stout, is going into general distro this year, while Kane doesn't even make enough Head High cans to go into general distro. It is possible that they could open up a very limited program, something like 100 members, but I can't begin to imagine the temper tantrum that will erupt from the locals when they miss the cut and are shut out. It's one thing to scream and carry on about missing a once-a-year release, but the feelbads are significantly worse when getting shut out of the club means missing out on a whole year's worth of releases.

    Just my $0.02

Keep posting people, we only need about 7500 people's $0.02 in order to purchase a set. And we can evenly split about 2 eye drops of each beer per person. Sounds fair to me

Kane can't handle that type of capacity like Bruery Society wasn't meaning anywhere near that level...I'm talking like a simple membership like Toppling Goliath Mug Club...pretty basic model they use and limit to only so many members. After last years butt hurt I thought for sure Mike would've considered opening up one to the locals by now. No proxies...sell membership openings at the brewery only...renew each year...wala. Keep in mind still releasing to the public silently with the remaining bottles of the releases so gives those not a member a chance still as well

I hear ya, but my comments at the end of my post still stand. Everyone who is advocating for a club is also assuming that they will be in the club...

kane doesn't need a club imo.. things work just fine the way they work now, why would they run a club.. what benefit is it to them to do so.. their beer sells out quickly regardless.. doesn't seem like they need $ from anybody to expand etc... shit they tried mobile canning.. didn't like it so they bought their own canning line etc.... i've never seen anything that strikes me as them planning to do a club

look at the way they focus on their draft accounts

I love that Kane isn't about clubs/private shit etc... ANTEAD is the only time shit gets super crazy

I'm not opposed to the Eventbrite lottery at all (think it was genius) and love the silent releases...just a suggestion after reading all the butt hurt comments after last year...I'm advocating a membership for others not myself. You're right they'll sell their beer regardless and I'll keep buying it regardless.

exactly so why should they give themselves more work/things to manage.. so people aren't butthurt.. that will always occur in all aspects of life when something is in demand and supply is limited.. imagine the butthurt from a local who couldn't get a membership for whatever reason then for the next year misses out on bottles..... it's a snake eating it's tail with situations like this

Because on September 1 you pre-sell a ton of beer. that will be released through the following year.
If there were 200 members at $500 a member that is $100,000.00 pre sale.

something tells me they don't need 100k that bad.. that's the point i'm trying to make..

also then they have to deliver on that.. they've already stated their focus is on distribution draft accounts and they fit bottles in when they can etc... i don't see them changing that to appease people buying bottles

I was just using those numbers as an example. Scale it up to 1000 members and it is half a million dollars.
I don't think it will happen anytime soon either. It is just something I would like to see (provided I can buy a membership)
