The only thing better than SJ is VSOJ, which is SJ aged for 22 months in Old Forester barrels- was a tap only thing at this year's release party.

Has anyone done a side by side Tasting of both Rue D'Floyds? (FFF & The Bruery)
I'd like to hear some thoughts.

I personally like the FFF version a lot more. I was really looking forward to the bruery version but it just didn't do it for me. Something about The lingering after taste. Hard to point out at this moment. The vanilla, cherry and coffee flavors are present but in a weird non balanced way. People who reviewed seem to really like it... I wonder if it was just my bottle...

The Bruery version had coffee and the FFF version did not. Perhaps it's the coffee that you don't like?

Legit. FFF is putting on a fundraiser for a member of the police force that is fighting cancer. There is a raffle that includes the possibility of winning tickets, bottles, and a few other things unrelated to DLD.

My roommate opened his Old Forester Behemoth last night. It's as good as I knew it'd be. The guy who said it's fairly hot right now was correct. Dry alcohol on the finish

The bourbon came through a little sharper than I remember 2016.

That beer just hits your tongue with layer after layer of flavor.

No. I definitely like coffee. It was just the Lingering after taste that was off putting. A couple friends who tried it said the same. I've had my fair share of BA porters and stouts and that one had a very unusual finish.

I have both versions but haven't tried the Bruery yet. I'll keep this in mind and report back. I imagine it being an effect of the coffee as well but who knows

I just now made the connection between Floydivision and Joy Division. The logo on the bottles, hadn't seen it until now. And I often forget where that artwork comes from. Are they just a fan of Joy Division at FFF, they liked the play on words, something more profound? Curious.

    When the hop bites hard
    And bottle counts are low
    And the attenuation rides high
    But emotions won't grow
    And were changing our ways,
    Taking different roads
Then beer, beer will tear us apart again

Why is the cellar so cold
    Turned loons on their side?
    Is my palate that flawed,
    Our respect run so dry?
    Yet there's still this appeal
That we've kept through our lives
Beer, beer will tear us apart again

April Fool's joke? Maybe it should be an April Fool's joke? You decide.

I'd lean towards not an April Fools joke since it was first reported 2 days ago. It would just be posted on FFF social media if it was a joke, they wouldn't have submitted it for approval. They love them some Muscatel barrels...This will be an epic barleywine (assuming the hops are going to be long since gone with barrel aging). Age a couple of these and drink one fresh.

Your barleywine conclusion is the same one I had related to gin BA Permanent Funeral. The bartender insisted it was not like a barleywine stand it was still very hoppy. Maybe a short time in the barrel? Can anyone who had BA Permanent Funeral weigh in?
