Fresh prop is one of the sweetest things I've ever had. After a year of aging a bottle it mellowed and was definitely one of the best beers I've ever tasted.

I think this beer just needs time to mellow and have the flavors mingle a bit. Just my opinion anywho.

I'm surprised there has been zero chatter in this thread for almost two weeks, what with tomorrow's release and all. So, we've all moved on?

Has anyone drank this year's yet? Or have they already all been pre-traded away?

The 2017 is getting great reviews on untapped. Just as sweet as always

When you stand in line outside for hours you rate it highly to justify the effort

I'm sure it's good, I once enjoyed this beer fresh as well. Splitting the 12oz bottles two ways was just about the right amount.

I thought it tasted excellent. Definitely happy w the product.
Was not too impressed w the release. Crowd was not too big but only one register ringing people up. Took about 2 hrs (after start time) to move my 200ft to purchase zone. Happy to have a few bottles to enjoy.

Yeah, total half-assed effort on Perrin's part. They should either do the entire event outside, in heated tents, or close for normal business until bottle sales are over. I mean, can you imagine how much more professional this would be with TWO registers? I've seen faster moving lines at Kuhnhenn releases.
Surprised there aren't pics of hauls yet, like the guy who bought 27 cases. Where is the self-righteous forum justice?!?

Were there really people that stood in line for hours to buy this?

Why did people stand in line for this? Last year it seemed like it was widely distributed and could be bought for less money after distribution. If you wanted cases, then maybe standing in line was worth it.

Yeah I'm surprised to hear about lines. I can STILL get 16 at the store right now in Indiana.

Why are some of you acting surprised there was a line? What special release doesn't have a line these days..

Another brewery had a release of what is (arguably) a better beer with far fewer bottles produced yesterday at the same time. There may have been a small line at noon but I was able to stop by at 12:45pm, buy bottles and not wait in line. This particular beer will see extremely limited distribution.

On the other hand, No Rules will be practically everywhere in the next few weeks. Why go stand in line when you can buy bottles while doing your grocery shopping at Meijer?

And I know you aren't new around here but it seems like over the last couple of years "beer lines" here in Michigan have actually been much tamer than in the past. People don't camp out overnight or show up at 6:00am because the releases generally don't sell out if you show up when the brewery opens. I'm just making some observations. There is far too much great beer on store shelves now for me to waste my time standing in beer lines anymore.

Agree. Craziness in Michigan has calmed down quite a bit. Probably because the FIB's are all busy standing in their own lines finally. But all bets are off when CBS comes out.

I just hope I can taste the barrel when cbs comes out. But I am excited to see no rules at meijer in a few weeks

There were a few special releases yesterday but I'm guessing you are referring to the Pike 51 Sensual Bean? Limited availability or distribution aside, a No Rules release is going to have a bigger draw with your average craft beer person in Michigan versus that. I'm not talking about nerds like us, I'm referring to the larger set of general craft beer enthusiasts. Even if the No Rules will be readily available in store 1-2 weeks later. I wonder what the line would have looked like had No Rules not been on the same day, given the proximity of both.

Because multiples or cases. Or a chance at the '15 and '16 No Rules they were also selling. Maybe you guys aren't seeing a quantity limit on No Rules out there on the westside but over here on the east side, most stores were doing per person limits on the stuff the past couple of years.

The only incentive for me being there was the limited availability of 2015 and 2016 bottles. Of course, the 2015 were gone almost immediately to the mug club members. Kind of a shitty move of Perrin to advertise that to entice those who were on the fence to go wait in that stupid line. Never again, for me.

Same here. In addition I will be out of town for spring break and would likely miss the chance to get locally. I was happy to get a few bottles for others, meet cool people, bottle share in line and taste some fresh on tap.

Just had one of my last ones from '16. It is so good, but sweet. Wish it was in a 12oz pour so the wifie wouldn't give me shit about slurring my words because it's in a 22oz bottle! Tough to drink during the week by myself. I know, I know, but I still have responsibilities and can't drink high octane stuff all weekend and still be married! She hates the BA and most other beers!

I had a 17 at a share last night and it was very good. It was 2 or 3 ounces but the flavor was more 15 than 16 for sure. I ended up picking up a bottle from a guy who had an extra for myself.
