Hey Guys, As a result of me and a friend shopping and my awesome wife beer shopping too I have three 6-paks of this years Bells Hopslam dated 01/18/2017. Is there any specific time frame it should be consumed in? I'm thinking it should be gone by late April early May, will there be any degradation in the taste by then? Thanks in advance!

Hopslam kind of has the reputation for being the beer that invented hop degradation. It's still a good-tasting beer that you have with that production date but I wouldn't sit on it much longer.

Thanks MG, that's what I was looking for, a reason to move to 4-5 per week!

That seems like a good approach. Perhaps as an experiment keep one can in the fridge for a few extra weeks just to see if there are any noticeable changes to you.
If you can, I recommend for next year make a point of grabbing a sixer as soon as it's released there. Bell's is pretty good with getting this beer immediately out to markets for its annual release. It's a great beer which I enjoy drinking every year. Cheers.

Oh my gosh, drain pour those and move quick as the hop profile on next year's batch is already fading.

Kidding of course. I love a hopslam in the summer. Yes the Hops fade some but it is still tasty in the summer.

I cellared some for fun. 1year and 2 years were great, 3 years not so much

I had a chance to talk with one of the Bell's reps. He said that if you're after the hoppiness of the beer, drink it as soon as reasonably possible. If it ages a bit, it won't go bad, but you'll lose a lot of the hop flavor.

I try and drink these style beers within 3 mos max, ideally sooner but that is my personal max. But again we are all different so go by your tastes etc.
Enjoy, I had a bunch of them and they are awesome.

Thanks so much to everyone! I'll share a couple and get thru all but 1 or 2 by the end of April, right about the 100 day mark.
