Great space and awesome staff. That dog, Barley, is amazing too if you have the privilege to see him and pet him. The beers themselves are all over the place. Some good, others not so much. I like their experimentation and creativity but probably wouldn't buy any of these, at least not yet. I'm giving it more time for them to settle down and churn out some better beers

Yeah, when I went there a couple weekends ago I thought some stuff was good and some not so good, but I would counter the good stuff was very much so. Cuppa (coffee pale ale) and Hot Potato (sweet potato porter) were both far ahead of where I would expect a new brewery to be out of the gates. Given that as well as the pretty adventurous beers so far, I have hopes they're going to develop into something really good. I definitely left with the impression that they are beer first, cool place to spend a night out second, and I think that bodes well for the potential quality of their future output.

I'm glad you guys enjoyed yourselves, we too are looking forward to getting all the kinks out. I don't ever want us to stop experimenting and trying new things, which I don't expect to always be perfect on our first go around, but looking at how much more confident we are in our equipment and process now versus where we were with our first brews I hope and believe your faith will be well founded. Cheers guys. Barley says hi.

I had Lucid Nonsense on draft the other night and thought it was great. Looking forward to checking the place out soon.

Thanks for the 'press' with the Hop Candy reference. A few local brewers have ended up using some of the candy in a few beers with great results. Motueka is the newest variety out and (to me at least) it blows Citra away! Hoppy Trails~

Just a recap, the space they have is really cool. The strong ales they had were very good and unique, definitely the highlight for me. The double IPA was solid and I'd get again along with the stardust PA, or it maybe an IPA. The sour beers didn't do it for me. Overall solid lineup with the strong ales being the beers id actively go buy.

I headed there for the first time Saturday night as well. I only had a sampler and one beer, but I'd probably go back. I'm not going to make a quick judgement, as I'd already been at Nightshift that day, palate was a bit fatigued.

Nice spot though, it was a bit packed, but every brewery these days is packed on a Saturday. I think I dug the Altbier the most. I also ordered some Drunken Noodles from the Thai place that delivers there, it was ok, I wouldn't get them again. Their peking raviolis were good though. Free pretzels and Cheez-its with your beers there too, so that's a bonus!

FYI...Bondir across the street had Cantillon bottles listed on the menu. I went across the street and they said they had just sold their last bottle. Really cozy spot in there with the fire place going as soon as you walk in. It's just one giant room, felt like my living room.

Good to know. I went to the bbq place a few blocks down the street after. Solid tap list as well. I will definitely be back to Lamplighter though. It seems the ideal time is early afternoon, because it did get packed after 8.

Grabbed a four pack of the El Dorado So Much For Subtlety DIPA, really great stuff, and at $14 something I'd buy again often.

Double can release this week. An IPA and a Dry Hopped Sour both brewed with satsuma mandarins.

I had the easy tiger Brett IPA with grilled pineapple and black pepper. Very interesting, but I wish it was more funky.

Anyone try Jackalope yet? To me it is so damn close to being an amazing beer. There is an astringency in the finish, almost yeast/hop burn, that's keeping it from being a contender. But it's got a LOT going for it. It has a very familiar bubblegum/melon thing like Treehouse but finishes with a bite like Trillium. Really cool. As I continued to drink the bitterness changed from rind to pith...I think something just has to get dialed in a little bit and this beer is going to be a total knockout.

All in all would highly recommend give a can a whirl if you can find it.

    Yeast don't burn. Lupulin powder?

Really liked Jackalope as well, and great description.

A lot of their beers have a similar bite on the end. I've been assuming it's Brett-related and is intended as a feature, not a bug, but I could be wrong.

No Brett in these beers. Still working out best dryhoping practices - it's likely polyphenol bitterness from heavy dryhopping.

Hmm, I've noticed from some Nightshift beers (the one's leaning towards that "classic" New England-style turbid IPA), and Treehouse beers this hot peppery bite at the end of the cans. Particularly if you purposely swirl the last and then pour it out before consuming.

I'm not sure if this is the same thing.

just grabbed a 4 of the Jackalope. There is still a couple cases at Fort Point market if anyone is interested. Looking forward to cracking one at home tonight or maybe on the train home if I don't make it that long
