I still have the VHS tapes kicking around somewhere, figured I'd post it in dedication to Michael Jackson as it would have been his 75th birthday yesterday.

All six video's will play from this ... keep in mind the audio is not in sync.

Cheers to the inspiration he spread!!

Spent two weekends "educating myself" on this series. Everyone getting into craft beer should review his work as a baseline understanding into the grander beer world. As always, nothing should be considered definitive, but more information is never not useful .

Taking things on their own terms and in their own context. What a concept! Let's hope it's not lost for good...

Wow, 75. Forgot how young he was when he died.

I loaned my video copies to someone back in the '90s... and haven't seen them since. I sure wish they'd re-release the series on DVD or Blu-ray, they're great sources.

Such an excellent series. Never managed to watch them all....looks like I know what I'm doing this weekend:slight_smile:

Apparently I was around 2 years old when this show aired. Part of this makes me sad, seeing how far we've come and how easily some of us take for granted breweries like Anderson Valley, Anchor, Sierra Nevada, etc. Don't get me wrong, I'm perfectly happy with the current state of beer...I guess I just hate it when some of these aforementioned breweries (the "old guard" of craft beer if you will) get dismissed as being "average" or "boring" by some people spoiled by nanobrewed, limited released, 2 can limit, quadruple-hopped APAs.

Also, the music.....amazing. If this show were produced today it would have a hip-hop beat of some sort with a CG animated intro. Pure class, this show.

I've got the full VHS set too (eBay purchase)...and I know exactly where it is.

Me too! I've got a couple VCRs I could dust off to watch my tapes, but they haven't been used in at least a decade and would probably explode if I plugged them in. :grimacing:
But come to think of it, I haven't even watched a DVD or Blue Ray in a couple years. :flushed:

I remember watching the series when it originally aired on the Discovery Channel and it really stuck with me, even though I didn't get into craft beer until almost 20 years later.

Thanks for posting. I loved the first episode and I'm looking forward to watching the rest. Very educational and a good reminder of what the beer scene was like in the not too distant past.

Thanks for the post! Watching these is great as a nostalgic exercise or for seeing them for the first time. Great History.

Man I can't tell you how many times my beer buds and I watched those VHS tapes! Back in the day there was nothing like seeing Mr. Jackson pontificate on great beers and breweries when few other were at that time. Classic!
