Wait, beer is doing this now? Multiple emails/entries for tickets? What is this, PTBM for Red Rocks '09?

 

Eh, really only a couple people complained and only one seemed legitimately pissed (and he got 3 allotments). You should be disappointed.

 

Yea I don't think you realize just how bad this system was. The more I talk to people who regularly go there the more I realize this.

If it's a lottery that is open for multiple days and then ample time before the pickup date people can literally round up every single person they know to at least put in an entry. That's simple and requires zero effort.

For a one off event a bunch of people (casuals) have to be around at a specific moment. In the system used this year all they have to do is take 2 seconds to fill out the lottery form at anytime of their convenience over 3(?) days.

Then for picking up people have anytime over the course of 2 days to go and pick this up. It's not like they have to be anywhere at a specific time (which I think was the same last release) so they're easily convinced to go if they happen to win a lottery which was apparently very difficult to win.

Neither system is perfect obviously. But last years was much much much better imo. Of the 10 or so people I know who regularly go to Kane and we all get to together NOT ONE got selected this year and that's with multiple entries per person. That's crazy. And judging from this thread it seems like that's the case across the board.

Not really bitter or one of those keep the lights on people, but rather a comparison of the two systems.

 

So the method used last year when you and your friends were able to buy bottles is better than this year's system when you got shut out.

Of course. There is almost certainly no 5 paragraph post if his crew got bottles. But alas...these god damn non-locals!!! Same bullshit was said last year. Literally exactly the same. Some homie even said on one of the facebook groups that the same result happened this year as last year with all of the non-locals taking all the ANTEAD......but wait! glennl posted a few pages back that 92% of last years ANTEAD buyers were relatively local so...maybe it's actually working fine?

 

I don't know where I said that in the post and it was certainly not the intended tone.

And to your post above you're basically saying that last years ANTEAD was actually working fine?

On another note as a possible solution, why don't they just sell 2 bottles to each person or something like that? To get more people to more people?

 

Because this is the format they want their customer to experience the product.

I only go to Kane a few times a year. I live close to 1.5 hrs away. But, I do support them all the time by drinking their beer at bars/restaurants. There is more than one way to support a brewery

 

Some people will always feel being a local/loyal customer should give them a bit of preferential treatment while others (mostly those those that aren't local) think they shouldn't/make fun of them for it. I don't think the two sides will ever agree. Lucky for me I don't give a shit either way!

 

Missed out yet again and as much as it sucks and as bad as Id love to get a set I can't be too upset because Ive gotten every single other release that theyve put out for a couple years now, be it bottles or cans.

Seriously, glad to see a number of people who report being shut out the past years getting a win this year. I'm out this year. But hoping whatever system for leftovers is more kind to me than the lottery was.

 

Agreed with the last couple posts. Got shut out of BPT and the lottery last year and the lottery this year. Did get a bottle in the silent release after though. Local here who is there a few times a month for tastings/bottles/cans. Work in an office building that is only a few miles away from Kane with a bunch of other craft beer enthusiasts. We were all shut out as well unfortunately. Same sentiments among all of us. Not mad just sad. The way this release was done created a lot of buzz around their brand which they are still building. This is a good thing. As they continue to get popular they can continue to expand production and hopefully have a whole barrel house. Understand that they do this in the best way they see to deliver their product but wish they would scale back on the variants and just deliver 1-2 bottles per person of just regular old ANTEAD which is delicious! Oh well! If they do a silent release I will do the exact same thing as I did last year and pick up a single bottle of the regular and enjoy the hell out of it. If they dont I'm sure I will get another taste at the anniversary at the end of the year. Just because I am a local who spends money there I know I am not entitled to anything. If anything their draft accounts that REALLY kept their doors open early on should be entitled to a case of bottles that they can sell at a premium while people are dining. Summer is coming and you know people coming to local places would probably pay $100 for a single bottle !

 

Im with you. Im a local and i I lost, Im at the brewery almost every week. Am I all that upset I lost, nope, its just beer. Good for the people that won and only drink Kane once a year for ANTEAD. I get to drink Sneakbox all year long and get almost every other release and im more than fine with that.

 

Sooooooo... My wife just called and told me she had asked her sister to enter as well. Didnt know that... Apparently her entry won so although I am still a loser, I do get ANTEAD bottles
