Darklord Day 2017

I'm glad I'm group A 2017.

 

That is generally why I don't make it past 2pm sadly. Maybe I'll try an egg mcmuffin or something.

 

damn we all went over 9 hours without posting before that. I am shocked and disappointed!!!

All I see is 33 and raining...

 

Jesus. It's only rained twice in last 7 years.

4 of those had temps in the high 60s.

 

This will only be my third year going. For me there is no Darklord day without rain. I will be overjoyed if it is even slightly pleasant this year!

 

I won't know what to do if it's nice outside that day! The past two years I've been in thermals covered by layers of rain gear whilst wearing rain boots. I'm trying to imagine the modern day DLD set up in full effect with nice weather...trying to imagine...still trying...
It would great being able to walk into the port-o-potty, unzip, and take care of business instead of having to remove four layers of clothing/rain gear first. I'd be able to take pictures of the festival without having to constantly wipe water off of my phone. Oh, the possibilities...

Same here. Been to DLD only in '15 and '16, so I associate DLD with mysery and suffering (weather wise).

 

Man, '13 and '14 were beautiful. A bit windy so it cooled the temperature down and people ended up with nasty sunburns, but the weather was incredible those two years.

 

The weird thing is, the "it always rains on Dark Lord Day" complaint has been around for for a while, long before 2015. I never really understood it.

There was a thunderstorm in 2009 late in the afternoon, so I get that one.

In 2010 there was a little rain late, maybe 7pm, so many people had already gone for the day (Dark Lord sold out hours before then).

In 2012 I think it rained briefly at like 6 in the morning, so only the people who got there super early to try to get in the brewpub experienced it, the majority had no issues.

But most years, no rain. In 2010 & 2012 if you got there around 8am and stayed until 5-6pm you saw no rain at all.

Ah yes, the good ole days. They've gone nearly forgotten after the last two years. I'd love for my only concern this year to be sunburn.

 

I miss the warm sunny days, you don't see as many passed out people in the grass when the weather is bad.

 

So, you just listed 3 more years, on top of the 2 most keep referencing, "but most years, no rain."

Well, I guess, 5 out of 16, so technically, you're right, but, maybe we can get some more people to remember some past rain

How about they just use a convention center or something?? Nothing about that outdoor environment is necessary or superior.

 

5 out of 16 if you count the releases before it became Dark Lord Day. Even fewer if you don't count the inside the brewery Dark Lord Days. I'd start the count around 2008, maybe 2009? @kodt what do you think?

 

I went in 2012 and 2010 and experienced no rain, because in both cases I didn't get there until 8am and left before 6pm. There was some rain, but I would say the vast majority of people who attended did not have to worry about it. The festival didn't even start until 10am, and in 2010 bottle sales were done by 5pm. So you could say it rained, but not during the actual festival.

04 and 05 were really the only years it was inside the brewery. 2006 and on had lots of people outside.

rained the morning of 2012....so 3 times. 2016 all day rain, 2015 all day rain, 2014 cold/windy, 2013 perfect weather.
