Had my coffee, now time for juice. Canned 2/1/17 and I'm getting some odd flavors. Clearly screwed up losing this one in the back of the fridge. Cheers!

Good morning BA, have a great Sunday! Another normal day of bottle returns, laundry, and catching up on overtime work for tomorrow. Report deadlines are due tomorrow for a lot of critical program milestones; but I already cleaned all of them up and they are ready to go. Going to do a test run tonight. Hoping for zero order failures lol. Beer this morning:

Incredible DIPA! Really fresh bottle. Flavors of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, apricot, mango, lemon/orange peel, citrus rind, and pine hops; with light-moderate caramel/toasted bread malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Good sized pine/citrus rind/spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium bodied; very sticky/resinous and fairly creamy/grainy balanced mouthfeel. Strong increasing resin dryness, with zero lingering hop astringency. Still highly impressed with this, even with the new higher ABV. This was originally one of the first IPAs way back 6 years ago to really blow me away, and I think it still just as impressive; even though my rating numbers have shifted overall to lower scores over time. I love C hops and Simcoe any day of the week. I should buy this more often when it's fresh.

Checking out the new Spaceship Earth coffee version. This is world class as always. Flavors of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, vanilla, toffee, molasses, chili pepper, and toasted dark bread; with lighter notes of raisin, currants, smoke, char, and nuttiness. Bittersweet balanced roasted finish, mild pepper spice. Full bodied creamy/silky mouthfeel; lightly slick with a bit of sticky/chalky roast and spice notes. Slightly drying. Very well hidden ABV; minimal warmth, no booze. Great pepper balance with minimal heat. The different coffee is definitely noticeable. Quite a bit more fruity, nutty, and smokey for this one IMO.

2016 is tasting insane. Flavors of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, toffee, nutty biscuit, bourbon, vanilla, and toasted oak; with light notes of smoke, char, coconut, licorice, raisin, and cherry. Bittersweet balanced creamy/silky full bodied finish; slight chalky roast and oak tannins. The mouthfeel was amazing, pretty much pure silk. Barrel integration and balance is absolutely perfect. There is no additional booziness or warming alcohol vs the base beer of similar age; and you still get plenty of the barrel characteristics that aren’t overwhelming to the base stout at all. Plead is pretty much my top favorite RIS of all time after 1 year of age, the barrel version is a slight step up from that(mostly mouthfeel).

Thanks @Roguer. Already reviewed this, but it is an older batch than I had a year ago. #2 March 2014, vs #4 October 2015. This is just as awesome as my review outlines, but a bit more tart/funky. Flavors of lightly tart lemon, lime, grapefruit, pineapple, peach, pear, melon, white wine, peppercorn, wheat, cracker, hay, straw, herbal, and grass; with light leathery/musty funk, vanilla, and toasted wood. Moderate peppery yeast spice and light acidic/tannic tartness on the finish. Well carbonated and light-medium body; with a crisp and moderately dry finish. Balanced grainy malt, acidity, and oak tannins in the mouthfeel. This hits all the right notes for a Brett Saison. Loved it just as much as I did last year. Refreshingly tart and drinkable.

Side by side IPAs is a helluva thing, differences becomes more stark than almost any other style. A West Coast-style IPA vs an actual West Coast IPA. The lush is shockingly complex and delicious. Got it as an extra but would actively trade for it!

My first Spencer Trappist Ale, my 1300th beer...

Last night dropped a posthumous birthday nod to the departed Toshiro Mifune, today I'll drop a similar nod to the departed Serge Gainsbourg, a scandalous French singer, songwriter, artist, writer, etc.. His work, and French pop songs from the 60's in general, were brought to my attention by the Swedish metal band, Therion...

Here's a couple of his songs, and as covered by Therion on their Les Fleurs du Mal album...

Big NSFW warning for Therion's cover of his tribute to Brigitte Bardot, Initials B.B...

    Enjoying my second bottle now...
You can tell from the head in the top pic that I poured gingerly, but the sediment zipped in anyway. So with bottle number two, I gave it a more typical pour and got much more head, which I'm sure Serge Gainsbourg would appreciate, but maybe not France Gall... :stuck_out_tongue:

    Cheers...
