We are now up to 32 with a week to go. I am missing some QC participation...

    Hey all,

Anyone know of a spot in Toronto where I can procure at styro shipper or two?

I want your beer to arrive safe and sound!

    Google Uhaul styroshipper.
They do 3-6-12 sizes. You'll need at 12 for CANBIF but it helps to have some 6 shippers too. A minimum order of $50 gets free shipping. 5-10 days for delivery.
Alternatively Uline sells them. You make be able to pick it up for them directly but I can't say for sure.

My first canbif I wrapped the crap out of everything and stuck a box within a box. Lots of bubble wrap, newspaper and tape, make sure there isn't any glass touching and no movement.

To add to this, Uline requires you purchase in lots of 4. They will ship it to you next day depending on where you live though.

Also note, Uline wine shippers have narrower slots than U-Haul. This means things like Cantillon 750 ml bottles and the like, or some brewery 750ml grumblers will be a very tight fit, or may not fit at all. They do sell Champagne shippers that will fit almost anything that beer is packaged in minus 2 litre growlers and kegs.

I've used both and have been happy with both. I have never found a bricks and mortar store that sells them. Online only.

It was a productive afternoon of picking up product - up to 15 delicious Alberta beers so far. I am super excited about this round - Alberta's beer scene is exploding!

Great news @Bunman3 ! I for one find it hard to keep up with local releases and know little about burgeoning AB scene

How do y'all feel about growlers? Very few breweries here package anything. I have enough stuff to meet the local (SK/AB) minimum. But there are a few things I'd like to show off that are draft only.

Growlers are good, theres a few gone back and forth before. Just make sure its fresh, packed and sealed properly. probably taping/reinforcing of the cap.

I wrap tops with thread tape (seals the cap and doesn't leave adhesive on the necks) and bag everything I ship. My MO is to fill on the day of shipping and fire off the box with 2 day with a couple cold packs.

On growlers: some Styro shippers have slots that fit grumblers/squeakers quite nicely. Larger 2 litre growlers require a little more Styro-surgery.

Flip top growlers work much better. Screw tops can become loose no matter how much you tighten them.

I've had screw top fresh filled growlers show up flat and stale. I've had flip top 1L with CO2 purge last half a year. ymmv.

Haven't had much luck with growlers in the mail, I think crowlers would last though.
