Turning a peeve into lemonade: I've come to appreciate the folks who jump in a thread about some beer with the sole input of "What was the bottle count?"

I appreciate their doing that because it quickly and efficiently identifies what they're all about ("valuing"/rating beer in part -- or, more likely, in large measure ... or entirely -- on its .rar status) and I can hit the "Ignore" in their profile.

I think we get most guys aren't trading their hard won BA Stout for 3 cases of Budweiser, but I've had some traders looking to stick me with " I stood in line all night", I had to drive 200 miles. I'm not paying or trading for your time in line that was your choice, the trade should be for the beer only and at $4$. Yes there's instances where some beers trade higher we know that. I can't remember the last locals for locals trade ive seen posted, these are the gems guys, you get to try local stuff you can't get and would like to try for the reciprocal. There IMO have been the best most fun trades I've done. I've got to try a lot of great beer this way, with no other way to do it but trade.

You will feel how you feel, but I think this is misguided. I know I've wondered and/or asked about bottle counts - not because I'm a greedy, beer-grubbing bro (ask any of my 250+ trading partners), but because I want to know how hard it's going to be to get.

For example, I love Cigar City. If there's a new Marshal Zhukov's variant out, I want it. And it's valuable information to me to understand if there are 100 bottles or 20k bottles...because if it's the former, I won't even bother trying to obtain it.

Not everyone's motives can be figured out by reading five words on an internet board!

I guess I will do my best to explain my statement without rambling on. Maybe my comment questioning if this is a millenial/generational issue was misguided.
I would agree that the issue is not a blanket problem founded entirely on age. I will argue, however that the several times I have encountered non responders or poor communicators ( those who have obviously read the messages or remained active on the site, only to never communicate back) they seemingly have been in the younger crowd.

Obviously correlation does not equal causation here, as I have had numerous A+ dealings with fellow "millennial" aged traders.

I just cant help but see a preponderance of evidence that suggests a higher probability of encountering a dick trader, whom doesn't respond or followup on messages because it is not high value enough for them, to be younger than older...

I guess at the end of the day it does not matter to me how old the offender is. I would just think showing someone the same level of respect that you would like to be shown is not too much to ask. The person behind the avatar is just as human and worthy of a response as I am.

Now that I think about it, I am sure my granny felt the same way whenever she penned me a couple handwritten letters through snail mail, only to never get anything in return from me but a paltry phone call... hmmmm

    anyway, cheers bros.

Understand what you were getting at guess I was just annoyed yesterday and that triggered that response. I have just heard that reasoning more and more lately and gets on my nerves. I took it personally and shouldn't have so cheers mate no hard feelings.

Had one of these this week. Trader posts "ISO Beer X, FT Beers Y." I message him, ask if trade is done yet, he says no. I have 3 of beer X, he says he wants them. I ask for some combination of the beers he originally posted...radio silence.

When your trade partner wants to send you extras and asks what styles of beer you enjoy and you repsond with "IPA's, Stouts and Pale Ales". You open your box up and find a bottle of a sour beer and a weizenbock. What's the point of telling him what you enjoy and he doesn't even send you what you like

Unfortunately these types of situations are becoming more frequent:

I reach out about their specific ISO and they respond yeah lets do it, what ratio are you thinking? They then go silent for multiple days in our conversation while at the same time posting the same ISO every day.

If you have the time to post in multiple forums looking to trade the exact bottles we had discussed , why is is so hard to respond to the person you literally are engaged in conversation with? annoying but also kind of a blessing- you learn early who not to trade with in the future...

Just received an extra in my trade. A Tired Hands Guva Milkshake. Cool right? Well it had 10/17/16 relsease date and was a 5 month old IPA drain poor. Why bother?

I've been bait and switched a couple of times recently. Here are the breakdowns:

    Bait and switch 1

Them: I'm interested in these 6 beers you listed, and I have these 2 that you're interested in.
Me: I could do these 2-4 for the 2 you offered.
Them: Actually, I really only want the two ultra rare bottles from the six I asked about, and I won't trade my bottles for anything less than that.

    Bait and switch 2

Them: I have X beer, and I'm headed to X brewery next week where I could grab you this other beer.
Me: Honestly, I'm not really interested in X beer, please let me know what you find at X brewery.
Them: You're being unreasonable. X beer is amazing. I think we're way to far apart to make this happen.

Trying to set up an IP trade and your trade partner can only meet from 1200pm to 1205pm and at central location that is conveniently located across the street from his house.

like this to the n'th degree especially if you are comuing in to a new city and the local is being a pain. Or you post locally saying you want to do a IP in a certain area and they want you to drive into their area taking an hour there and back to help them out.
Saying that I was so lucky to trade with two reasonable home town traders in Austin last week who drove to my hotel and helped make the trades happen when I didnt have a car - they were awesome and how traders should be. Thank you @whoiseric, new to trading here but you were class.

If you don't think a trade is worth it, shut the F up then. I don't need a message from you saying "dude, you'll have to add xyz for that". Mind your own business and don't waste my time. I swear to god, some people here are more pretentious than wine snobs.

I've got 36 trades completed in a little more than a year, with great feedback. I think I know full well what I'm doing.

I've sent messages to people that are ISO shelfies outside of their distro, and I am heading there that week or the next, and offer to get some for them (either they can give me a label no questions asked or we can trade), and not one single person I have offered this to has responded.

Bizarre that good will gets no response.

Here is a new one. A trader reached out to me with an offer. It was a little off on $4$. After a little talk, we came to an agreement. I told him that I am assuming it is closed (even though we were going to talk about expanding). He found a better offer and bailed out. His response:
