A day off from work, but I've got a ton of stuff to do around the house.

Breakfast requires something with a bit of heft . . .

    Score 3.84
    look: 3.75 | aroma: 3.5 | taste: 4 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 4

Dark reddish brown color with orange-gold highlights at the edges.

The aroma first struck me as ripe figs and sweet raisins. Followed by touches of chocolaty roast malt. These aromas cover up any hop presence but I don't mind.

Taste is dark malt on entry, and lots of it, followed by ripe fig/raisiny sense of sweetness supported by dark, bittersweet chocolate. To be fair the dark chocolate is actually dark malt and bittersweet is the coffee like touch of roasted malt. Brewer says the addition of malted rye allows for a clean dry finish and I agree. IBU is 28 and doesn't really show, but hops are not needed except as a counter weight.

    Light medium texture.

If this one falls down anywhere it's in the texture but that's being descriptive rather than critical. The taste is full and rich, the flavors are complex and neatly woven together with just enough hop presence as not to be missed. A clean, dry, full flavor that stops just short of being assertive. Proof that flavor doesn't require a large shovel full of hops.

Brewmaster Jack's Tennessee Prinse an 11.5% quad aged in whiskey barrels. Better than I remember it, maybe because I haven't contaminated my palate with any actual food yet.

Breakfast at your house, dinner at mine? I'm making spaetzle with caramelized onions, kielbasa and emmenthaler and braised cabbage.

Personally, I think the baby is better on a regular basis. KBS is more of a treat.

Good morning BAs! A little late getting started this morning, after celebrating my KBS score last night. Today's New Breakfast Beer:

    Pleasant but overpriced.

And I'll take Baby over KBS for breakfast - KBS is just a little too sweet in the morning; more of a well earned dessert x 4 beer.

Ack! I just reread my description above and meant to say 'light medium-full texture'. Maybe I'd be sharper if I were drinking coffee rather than beer . . . not.
