Guys, maybe FFF can learn from 18th st and implement some improvements to the festival such as:

    1. Offer a $180 Designated Driver ticket. This person gains access to the fest and can buy food, but gets no allotment and can't buy beer.
    2. Split the festival into 2 hour blocks, only allow Groups in during their allotted 2 hour time slot.
    3. Bring back the $40 in vouchers, but now you have to use them all in 2 hours instead of 12.

Another good reason to have the concert on a different day. People who are metal fans can still come see the bands they like (including those who also want to attend DLD) and DLD attendees who don't want to listen to the stuff (IMO, the majority) don't have to. Everyone wins?

I see how that could be a problem logistically with setup, so why not have the concert day and DLD on back-to-back days?

Last year was my first year at DLD. I spent the vast majority of my time in the tent where they had the DJ. If I didn't know there were metal bands there beforehand, I would only have realized it on my walks to the taps or to the porta potties. Even then, it was more background music.

The point is, if you don't want to interact with the bands or their fans, you don't need to do so. You and your group can set up shop away from the music and enjoy bottle share and craft beer love.

Actually a Designated Drinker ticket would be better--provided the taps are okay, or else, they could just join in on the bottle share.

Kind of like the guest tickets they've done previously, no bottles.

I've learned my lesson to not arrive late. When I got there, all tents except metal were jam packed. Definitely coming earlier this year if there is rain. If the weather is nice, yeah of course, no problem.

What you're doing is intentionally poking the metal fans, which justifiably provokes angry responses because not only are you being a troll, you're also trying to carve out and discard an essential component of the 3Floyd's brewery identity (heavy metal being part of its essence).

You would get similar responses if you went to the Sweetwater 420fest page and complained about too much pot smoke.

    Official Band List DLD 2017

    1 Amon Amarth
    2 Tenacious D
    3 Sonic Death Monkey
4 Barry Jive and his Uptown Five
    5 U.S. Maple
    6 Tony Bennett

I found this thoroughly unsubstantiated misinformation which was vetted by sources who have names, to be a solid rumor.
Snopes rates this as more likely true, than the rumor that the only noninfected variant was aged in Cherry Pez dispensers.

I'd say a far higher percentage of attendees of a festival whose main attraction is jam bands are also fans of weed than the percentage of attendees to DLD are also fans of metal. I mean, come on, who listens to jam bands without smoking weed?

Let's do DLD with just the metal bands and no beer and see how many people show.

Hold up. Regarding this infection / less variants available nonsense..... Last year was the first time they included a variant with every ticket. Before that, scratchers... Last year, like 3-4 of the variants at the end of the list were leftovers from 2015. Instead of last years leftovers, they're doing two vintages. It sounds like there could be the exact same amount of fresh variants as last year.

I never looked at it that way. That's a really good point. Same amount of variants this year and using vintage DL instead of 16 leftover variants.

Well, if you guys really want to rule out infection, you had better come up with another topic to keep this thread going strong!

I think it would still sell out without DL, if the taps were there at least. A couple years ago I ran across a girl with a group a tag that hadn't been torn off....well after noon. She was just there for the music. I gave her a twenty to trade me tags and jumped in the front of the line. No waiting. Golden ticket. Winning.

This was my initial thought when they announced that you wouldn't be guaranteed a variant.
