Ok, so I was thinking about this, there are states in the US that are renound in the beer community for having some stellar breweries and beer. States such as California (Russian River, Sierra Nevada, and so many more) and Michigan (Bells and Founders). However, what is, in your opinion, the most underrated beer state that produces some phenomenal beer but doesn't get the credit it deserves?

Ohio - Fat Head's, Brew Kettle, Jackie O's, Columbus Brewing, Great Lakes, and many more. I will take our IPAs over any other.

I like the OH and IN votes. Those are definitely some great beer states. I'll put my own votes in for FL (Cigar City / Funky Buddha) and NC (Foothills / Olde Hickory).

My vote goes to Maine or Minnesota. Minnesota has Surly, but they have many up and coming breweries and also are within the distro of many world class breweries as well.

I was going to say Utah too.

Look the laws still suck with normal strength beer being completely illegal on draft, but there are some very good options in bottles and they've worked miracles with some of the 3.2% drafts.

Plus the brewpubs there have some good food and you can do a great pub crawl or very cheap taxi crawl around downtown SLC and hit most of the places.

Don't forget about TEXAS. We gots St. Arnold's, Shiner, Real, and a new brewery here in Katy, TX called No Label that makes some excellent brews.

They're not underrated up there, they have some rock star breweries that don't go unnoticed. I agree, great beer coming out of there, but recognized...quite often...

Wisconsin, true New Glarus and to a little lesser degree Central Waters get talk. However, there's a hell of a lot more, Tyranena, Capital, Ale Asylum, to name a few.

Believe me, the shit coming out of VT is bananas and gets all the well deserved hype. Far from underrated.

Does Germany count? Been really into German beers lately and feel they don't get enough love.

But if it doesn't, I would say North Carolina. Highland, Duck Rabbit, Foothills, and Olde Hickory, they make some great stuff.
