I guess they started towing people from the Paddy O's parking lot on Saturday. Did it again today.

EDIT - I see that this has been discussed.

There is plenty of parking, according to their post. Haha.

I would like to see this. Just something really west coasty. I want to see if they can make them as good as their "NE" offerings.

Agreed. While others on the haze train like Modern Times, Noble, Highland Park and others, have all made plenty of West Coast IPAs, Monkish hasn't. They've gotten the IPA formula down over the past year, so would really like to see what they can do with the more local style.

I'm not too knowledgeable about the science of brewing beer. But would the taste of their IPA's change if they filtered it and made the appearance clear? Or would the hazebro's think they would taste worse because they can see through it? Hmmmm.

The taste would potentially change, but who knows.

As for parking, It's completely understandable that the business next door would tow like crazy because there's fucking tons of signs that say DO NOT PARK HERE when pulling in to that area and it's an active business.

The paddy's place across the street has been such a strange situation since their only no parking sign is mostly covered/beaten to all hell against the wall. The place hasn't been open for what it seems a long time. I've known people to park there, get their cans and bounce out, but then there's situations where folks park there, get cans and come back to an empty space.

I've heard also that the lot they take it to is in South Gate, which is a solid 15 minutes away, so the tow company monitoring that lot probably does one round daily at night or some neighbors are calling it up since it seems too far away to monitoring it on a consistent basis.

In short, don't park there just because the business is closed.

Also, it is private property and if they don't want you parking there they have every right to tow. Even if there is a sign, a beaten sign, or no sign. People should know that parking on private property isn't allowed unless you are permitted. Would you park in my drive way at my house and leave? If I owned those businesses around monkish I would follow the monkish Instagram and be calling the tow company every time I see a release.
Maybe Monkish should get more parking to accommodate people, Institution did it in Camarillo, which I am sure consisted of them calling a nearby business and leasing some of the parking of a nearby business.

Camarillo is a completely different city than Torrance though, there's so much space out there and not congested like much of LA County. I love their Institution IPA. I'm not sure if they can accommodate any sort of parking, as there really is no lots. 300+ cars for street parking. Argh.

not sure where monkish will magically get space for more parking, maybe the same place it'll get space in that industrial parkway for a bigger tap room?

Yeah, that lot is private property and they have a right to tow. But better signage is needed for that one since it appears to be a closed business and folks tempt fate often.

The real solution is, and this isn't a popular one, just fucking walk, you neck beards. A couple of blocks will do you some good and the residential area across the way does open up once you go a block or two inward. Not like you're using that stroller to carry the baby anyway. I lost track of how many times someone walks away with beer case in the stroller and them carrying the baby in their arm.

Have yet to have any notable haze from HPB or MT.

Agreed on a Monkish West Coast attempt - would be interesting to see.

Someone mentioned that it appears that Paddy's may have been bought by someone - I guess there was an electrician working on site and there was a fresh paint job on the sign.

If true, sounds like the new owner is stepping up enforcement.

Not saying they haven't put them out, I just haven't tried any that have wowed me in any way. The best they've done that I've had was the Trader Joe's exclusive "Accumulated Knowledge".

Would love to try DW but based on what I've had at this point, they aren't really putting out hops that make we want to go out of my way to get them.

Personally, I preferred BA over WBF but they were both good. Hoping my growler of WBF will get better by next week (if it lasts that long).

Yes, walk or tempt fate, and I hope you get towed. I don't know why we need more signage, do I need a sign in front of my house saying do not park in my driveway? How about personal responsibility.
The space around institution isn't much better than Monkinsh. They just don't have a 100 people there for can releases. Across the street from Institution is some venue that is frequently used for weddings and other large parties that takes up lots of parking. Institution leases space from another parcel nearby that has some excess parking. They are not leasing a dirt lot, it is a portion of a lot with a structure on it.
Monkish isn't located in downtown LA where parking is impossible without paying. Yes camarillo has more dirt, but that is mostly because it is farmland. That doesn't translate to more parking.

I live in Camarillo, there's an empty neighborhood down the road. With plenty of parking, single family homes, and not filled with apartments and cramped streets. And nowhere near the busy road that Western Ave is.

Busy roads like the 101 freeway? You are still missing the point that Institution leased parking from a nearby business. I am sure Monkish could do the same if they cared, which I am sure they don't. If I was neighbor I would be complaining to the city and force them to acquire more parking if they plan on doing these releases.
