I saw a distro update from GI last week from the beer buyer at a Binnys that the Wheat Whiskey is to be released sometime early 2013. Cherry was late October/early November, Coffee was December and Wheat was early '13 if my memory serves me

A Whole Foods employee told me she was out drinking with Laffler, and he took them into the warehouse late at night to try a BCBS barreled with macerated cherries, unfiltered. Guessing that was this in the works... Sounds awesome.

For those of you in Chicago, how easy are these types of bcbs variations to obtain?

Nothing bcbs is easy to obtain as far as I know, the exception being this year's regular bcbs.

They've done a few Cherry BCBS over the years, had one at Stout Fest in March 2010 and it was OK...nothing too exceptional. Old Max was the bomb that night.

Lets hope that since they used our cherries, they'll distribute it far and wide here.

Interesting, did InBev's domination of the US markets cause GI to acquire all of Michigan's cherries for BC, thus Bells being forced to cease production this year? One can only wonder.

Interesting question. Perhaps the cherries were available, but Bell's couldn't justify the price increase. It's no doubt easier to tack on a couple of bucks to the price of bourbon county variants that fly off shelves than a 6er of cherry stout that isn't nearly as popular as other stuff they make (i.e. hopslam).

Do we know when they put the cherries in the barrels? Could they potentially be from last year's crop?

I don't know where you live, but the whole Midwest cherry crop was demolished. Fairly certain this is from last years Cherrys... same with Madame Rose.

They went into barrels in mid-July per this, which would be this year's crop per this.

I thought it was late July or there about's. Know someone that was helping stuff the barrels (originally thinking it was for Madame Rose) for Cherry Rye BCBS.
