Raise one if you've got one!

Also, don't forget to reach into the back of the closet and dust off that unique glass, stein, mug, flower vase, or urn to impress the Glass of the Day council.

    Time to break some bread.

Good morning BA, have a great Saturday! Looking to be another pleasant and relaxing weekend ahead. I have a bit of work to finish up for Monday, but it won't be too difficult.

My go-to American made doppelbock. Delicious as it is every year. Rich flavors of caramel, toffee, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, and light nutty malts; with some light-moderate raisin, plum, apple, fig fruits; and light herbal/spicy hops. Light herbal/spicy balancing bitterness; with medium-full bodied bready creaminess in the mouthfeel. Slight sticky/grainy dryness. Great balance of flavor complexity. Spot on to style as always. Need to grab a 6 pack, I usually buy a full pack every year.

Fantastic BBA Doppelbock, last 2015 in the cellar. Flavors of big caramel, milk chocolate, brown sugar, toffee, molasses, brown bread, raisin, prune, fig, date, coconut, vanilla, bourbon, and toasted oak; with a touch of nutty malt and licorice. Light earthy hop bitterness and tannic bourbon/oak spice against sweetness on the finish. Thick full body; creamy, slick, and silky; lightly tannic and syrupy. Slight tannic oak dryness. Mildly warming 13%, minimal barrel booze. The barrel presence and balance is amazing in this brew. Intense rich malt compelxity and never cloyingly sweet. I grabbed a handful of 2016 bottles, and there is still plenty more on the shelf. It ages gracefully.

Amazing IPA as usual, glad we finally got some fresh stuff around here lately. Flavors of huge grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, mango, pineapple, passion fruit, peach, citrus rind, and pine hops; with some light honey/bready malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine/rind/spicy bitterness. Very smooth finish with moderate hop stickiness and light malt creaminess in the mouthfeel. Increasing resin/rind drying finish, without astringency. I know a lot of people think the Green Flash brewed Alpine beers are not as good, I feel this is spot on to how I remember the real Alpine one I had years ago. I love Simcoe and Amarillo hops. Hopefully with the new Virginia Beach location, we will see fresh Alpine more often. They mention VA production right on the bottle.

Been nearly 3 years since I last had this. Glad for the cans now, just hope it stays consistently accessible in this format. Absolutely insane as I remember! Flavors of huge nutty dark roasted coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, molasses, toffee, vanilla, cream, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, dark bread, and smoke; with some herbal/woody/spicy hops and light charcoal. Bittersweet balance roast/char/hop finish. Full bodied creamy/silky/velvety finish. Lightly increasing roast/char dryness. Super smooth, minimal warming 12%. Insanely complex and well balanced. Will definitely grab some more cans.

    Cheers

Keeping my Belgian theme going . . .

    Score 4.34
    look: 3.75 | aroma: 4 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4.5

Attractive dark ruby brown color with good cap and lacing.

Aroma of dark yeasty bread, toffee, caramelized sugar, clove like spices and dark Bordeaux cherries.

Taste displays World Class complexity and sophistication. A wonderful melange of flavors just like it smells but these flavors intermingle so well as soon as you recognize one you're tasting another. How is this possible? It's like all the colors of the rainbow were blended into one yet still remain distinct.

    Full texture with balancing carbonation.

Simply one of the best of the Belgians which as a group are among Beer Royalty.

Hey, all!! How's it going? I heard there was a theme day today, so like a kid on Christmas morning, I naturally awoke with extra anticipation for my first beer. But, trying to contain my excitement, I will first sit down with some coffee...

... bock - Brew Bocka by Old Ox (sorry it just slipped out :flushed:).

Well, with that out of the way (why is the GF rolling her eyes ), time for the morning paper. If you recall, earlier this week, Navin the host goat had gone missing. These are troubling times, and not wanting to bring myself down, I started with the light stuff in the lifestyle section:

Hmmm, this story is out of California, and I am reminded of one of our guest hosts' favorite places when I saw this caption, and wonder why he's never mentioned any affinity for yoga:

    Navin! No!! :grimacing:...!!!
Trust me. I'm no longer allowed within 50 yards of the hot yoga place at which I attempted such a maneuver :slight_frown:!

Anyhow, this article is actually a week old, so there's no telling where Navin is now. Maybe he'll show up in a few posts on here. I know the hosts put up posters so you'll be on the lookout for the missing goat. Cheers, and Happy ROWYBO III!!!

    (Remember, that's "drei" not three)
