Well it's local so I gotta give it a shot, just in case anyone asks . . .

Just the logo is all I can post for now, this is Lucky Town Flare Incident, an oatmeal stout brewed with Vermont Maple syrup and brown sugar. The malts are 2 Row Pale, Chocolate, Caramel 60L, Black Roasted Barley, Flaked Oats and Flaked Barley. Irish Ale Yeast, 5.7 ABV and 58 IBU.

    Score 3.51
    look: 3.25 | aroma: 3.5 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.5

A muted brown color with slightly orange highlights.

Aroma of roasted coffee. Some dark toffee as well touched with Turbinado sugar. Surely the are hops in there though concealed by these heavier scents.

Taste of roasted malt/coffee with a clean finish. Brewer says this is brewed with Vermont Maple syrup and brown sugar but I can't tell if that means before fermentation or is added afterwards. Not as sweet that these flavorings imply because this brew tastes and finishes rather dry. Columbus and Fuggle hops are used for an IBU of 58 but they're so over layered by the coffeeish malt if I'd been told the IBU was half that I wouldn't have argued.

Almost full texture with a good dose of carbonation. A fuller, rounded feel that borders on creamy.

Brewer lists pale and dark roasted malts (chocolate, caramel, 60L and Black) as well as flaked oats and flaked barley. I think flaked grains do add to the body here and that's a plus. I also expect the hops would shine more if the roasted flavor were less heavy. Whether more accent on hops would be a better thing I can't say. I can say the resident Guinness fan gives this brew an enthusiastic thumps up but he drinks Guinness so there's that.

Having a Nøgne Ø American Pale Ale. Slightly past it's best before date, but the shop gave a 10% discount in advance.
For who is interested; I found it at the Bierkoning in Amsterdam last Saturday. Wonderful shop and highly recommendable for any BA who finds him- or her-self in Amsterdam some day.
    Cheers all!

    Hi everybody

    I'm about to drink this.

The little undead fish I sketched tells me I shouldn't. Can't be worse than Olde English 800 locked in the trunk of your car for two days in California summer heat can it?

    Cheers!?

Lone Pine Tesselation as I enjoy this beautiful spring day. Only problem is I'm looking at the yard and thinking I might have to go buy a power broom this year.

Crappy picture, decent beer: Modern Times Drop Art.

Called a fruited-tart saison, it tastes like a mild kettle sour. Pretty good for an affordable, readily available beer (at least this month). And the can art is <3

Not exactly what I think of when someone says "English breakfast," but I think you've picked winners on both the food and beverage fronts.

Quite old, but still very hoppy. Unfortunately, the hops that have faded leave it quite unbalanced.

    Round 2.

Canned 1/18, and it tastes like it. It's pretty dank now, and tastes more like a West Coast IPA. But you can still taste the softer tropical fruity qualities of what it once was. Oh well. That's what happens when you neglect what's in your fridge. Not that it's bad, but it isn't the same beer.

Nearly impossible for me to get a decent pour of this beer right now. That said it's a super clean tasting hoppy spelt saison. Some apricot and big lemony citrus flavors from the Amarillo hops, with nice spice and banana notes coming from the Belgian saison yeast. Really great beer. Might have to grab another bottle now. Cheers!
