Husky Pants was a major bummer. They did a good job promoting the release and it was not great.

Maplewood hasn't done anything to make me want to buy another beer of theirs. At some point consumers need to just stop purchasing anything as long as it is hazy.

The fact that they have huge releases for usually below average beer really bothers me

They do major releases because they have a lot of people who enjoy their beer. Beer advocate is a small percentage of the beer community.

Also, The Charlatan is phenomenal. Very similar to and easily beats out Zombie Dust, IMO. I'd say it's the best Pale available in Chicagoland currently.

Agree to disagree ... I have a problem with celebrated releases for ipas that don't deserve it.... my personal opinion...

Charleton is an absolutely phenomenal Pale ale. I'm going to Mexico next week, and I'm sticking up on it to be my poolside drink of choice.

:confused:If people like it and think it's deserved, then why do you have a problem with it? There are beers that all of us like that others don't, and vice versa. I think I had one batch of Juice Pants...thought it was enjoyable, but nothing I got too excited about, but if they have a release party for it and people want to attend and buy the beer, that is great for them.

I'd buy batch 4 and see what you think. The Juice pants has improved with each batch. At least the execution of it has. The hops can be debated forever.

Why? It's not like it's taking time away from some other beer release. The brewery has every right to advertise however they'd like, and generally speaking a beer release will create more hype for their beers (which is why Rev has started doing releases at the brewery for each of their BA beers).

Juice Pants has been pretty solid for me each time (the first one I had that was completely clear was probably my favorite, but the last batch was tasty too). SoJ batch 1 was a bit of a letdown for me, but regardless I have no issue with them continuing to hype their own beer. Gotta get seen in the Chicago beer scene somehow!

Depends on what airline you go with and what they charge for a checked bag. It's really easy to throw in a few four packs or a couple bombers in your checked bag and not have to pay a ridiculous amount of money.

And if you have premier status, it costs nothing.

Yeah but if you get forcibly removed from the plane then you are separated from your beer...

They do hyped releases because it's marketing for the brand. The goal is sell product quick and this is a great strategy. Take a look at Maplewood's and Hailstorm on Instagram and you'll see a clear difference in marketing.

Nothing extra. I get one free checked bag for myself and a guest through my rewards credit card. As long as the bag is under 50lbs, there's no fee.
