The imperial IPA aged in bourbon barrels is the third installment in the brewery’s Barrel-Aged Series

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., April 12, 2017 – Founders announced today that they will release Doom, an imperial IPA aged in bourbon barrels, as the next release in the Barrel-Aged Series. Founders last released Doom in 2013 as part of the Backstage Series of beers, and its return is highly anticipated.

Doom is the third release of 2017 in the brewery’s esteemed Barrel-Aged Series, preceded by Frootwood and KBS. In addition to Backwoods Bastard, there are two remaining beers yet to be announced in the series this year.

Doom will be available in the taproom beginning on May 12 with remaining states seeing it shortly thereafter. Doom will have a suggested retail price of $14.99/4-pack 12oz bottles and $11.99/750mL bottle.

"Imperial IPA and barrel-aging - two of our greatest strengths coming together to create the masterpiece we call Doom,” said Co-Founder and President, Dave Engbers. "This is a huge beer with a big attitude. We are so happy to bring this beer back for those who have been vocal in asking for its return and we look forward to introduce it to those who haven’t yet had the opportunity to try it."

Founders will announce the remaining two releases in the Barrel-Aged Series later in the year.

    About the Barrel-Aged Series
Crafting legendary barrel-aged beers is an exercise in patience. We start by brewing complex, world-class beer worthy of time in a barrel. Then, our experience and years spent mastering our craft means we know exactly when it’s been aged to perfection. After one sip, you’ll know – it was worth the wait.

Imperial IPA aged in bourbon barrels

Hopefully that Imperial IPA is more like a Barleywine. Anyway I'll try most things from Founders. They're my favorite large brewery at the moment

Also am I the only one who would like their Imperial Stout barrel aged?

    Exactly.

This beer has been released before...and it was fucking awesome (and relatively cheap from what I remember). Possibly my fave BA beer from them going back over the past few years. Although in fairness, I don't remember too many of them.

I do recall enjoying Doom a lot. It was a very well done beer IMO.

I hate to say it again, but especially for the price. I wanna say it was like $10/bomber and I gobbled up as much as I could at that price. I remember it aging well too...up to a year or so.

"This is a huge beer with a big attitude." Fair enough, can't argue with that. Personally, having struggled through 750ml last time around, I'd go with, "This beer is a marmalade bomb." Not my cup of tea...but as always, worth a try.

This is a beer that will get me back to the local bottle shop instead of the brewery. Can't wait to try it!

I didn't like it at all, but did like Mango Magnifico. We all have different tastes.

Ha, for real...cause I drainpoured MM not once but twice...it was okay for first 4 sips, but for me was a classic case of a novelty beer that really needs to be shared among like 15 people. Doom, on the other hand, I drank by myself with no problem on multiple occasion. Probably on too many occasion if you ask the wife...

Doom is decent, it's very interesting if you haven't tried it. I remember it being around $20 last time, so this is a nice price break.

Count me in the camp of those who loved the original release. I have been waiting for the re-release ever since it first dropped.
