I was about 65th in line at open and it looked like they had another 60-70 sets on the ground when I made my purchase. So my guess is around 125 full sets, but that's just an educated guess

Totally agree, I saw the post and made it a point to tell the people at the front of the line to go around back instead of just running back there. Worked out very well. Kudos to Kane for a very well run release.

So to all those who were lucky enough to get bottles. How do you all store them?! I have a beer fridge that's at 55 degrees I've been keeping a handful of things in and then I have other bottles in boxes sitting in my room. Seeing as how this beer is the most special one I've got trying to make sure I do right with it. Boxing it in my room good enough?

It's the 2016 yield. Due to the vagaries of beer and barrel, and the standard Kane has established internally, the ANTEAD series tells the humans when it is ready.

that feeling when you complain about how a release was handled but then backtrack and say it was done well once you get your own bottles

So, I'm a bit concerned about the bottle of ANTEAD coconut I scored. The wax is very thin, the cap is quite visible, and it looks like there may be rust by the crimping. There was also a thick viscous liquid (that was almost 100% likely once beer) on my bottle coming from under the wax that smelled heavily like rust. You can see the liquid on the bottle though the wax as well. To add some fuel to my paranoia, saw a person mention a bottle they opened (not coconut though, chocolate) had a sour edge to it. Argh...

Yea I'm going to add on to the Kane praise with how they handled this entire release. When so many people were denied from the lottery I figured they held some back for silent release. I thought it would maybe be 1 or 2 bottles per which I would have been completely fine with. The fact that they knowingly sold all their sets through the lottery and withheld and substantial amount of random bottles for a silent release was very courteous of them and really well done. Anyone who was around yesterday could have got at least 1 bottle as long as they got there within a reasonable time of the announcement, just like they would have had to do with any regular Kane release. Good job Kane

I think this is the main point in all this. They clearly give a shit and are doing whatever they can to ensure most people are happy. A+ on their end.

Hm, really? I thought for how sleek Kane's bottle labels and year round can offerings are, the rotating labels are slightly boring and leave a lot to be desired. Of course it doesnt take away from the fantastic beer they put in the cans but just my 2 cents.

there was some rust like stuff near the cap on the 15 ANTEADS too.. not sure about reports of sour.. saw somebody say their bottle gushed some but it was because it was opened at like 68 degrees.. somebody had a sciency explanation for why that can occur sometimes.

nobody who's opinion i'd trust has had any problematic issues to report.. i've gotten reports that nilla was very good and that cocoa was great as well along with base and some people stating coconut really didn't have any coconut and that the rye was their least favorite, but no reports of any quality problems

if you are very concerned i'd just plan to drink your beers sooner then later.. there is no time like the present to enjoy the beer!

My cousin and I each opened one of our Fifth bottles in Dec and there was a little bit of rust under the wax but 0 issues with the beer itself.

Also to respond to my post on the one off can labels, I think they are inline with the minimal simple design of the rest of the labels. I like them personally. I remember talking to Michael the day Party Wave and 3rd reef released and he was saying they didn't wanted to spend too much time and what not into creating labels for these like they do for the flag ship cans since they wanted to just get them out for people quickly

Are you supposed to take the wax off the bottles for storage? I'd never heard that before but saw someone mention it somewhere and now reading these rust issues. I'll probably crack an ANTEAD around Thanksgiving and Christmas. Should I remove the wax now or leave it on?

I opened a 1825 in January that had a significant amount of rust on the cap and rim and tasted a little oxidized.
