Was fairly light on hazelnut for me as well, especially when you go from Hazel's Nuts to English Gent. Was still a tasty milk stout though and glad I bought a few.

I live in the area, and the best bottle
Shop in the area, bar none, is Puerto Rican food and Liquors. Don't let the super dumpy bodega appearance throw you off. The selection is awesome.

Everyone else has done a pretty good job on naming bars in the area.

Hazel's Nuts is solid through and through. What sort of aroma did you get from the English Gentleman's nuts?

In comparison to Hazel's Nuts, The English Gentleman's Nuts were not nearly as potent as Hazel's. She has something going for her!

Anyone know of any FW Parabola still available in Chicagoland around the Interstate 294 to 88 to Rockford corridor? I'll be traveling through tomorrow. Feel free to IM any ideas. Thanks!

Is GI Rare still on the shelves in the Chicago area?

Skokie Binnys - right off I-94...

Still 2+ cases last time I was in there (last week or week before). Not in beer section, right as you walk in, up against the service desk.

All gone. I went in on Tuesday and nothing was up against service counter. Asked the sales rep guy there and he said they finally sold them all that past weekend. I mentioned there being 2 full cases and if all of them sold that weekend, and he mentioned the 2 boxes were actually empty (display purpose only) and that only bottles sitting on top of them were what they had.

I know they are expensive, but is this typical?

I think it depends on area and want. I know some weeks back there were cases of rare at the Binny's in Evergreen Park. It sat there for weeks upon weeks. Lo and behold the next time I stopped in there was nothing and mind you I'm talking there were around a dozen cases or more. Guess there is no rhyme or reason at times.

Sounds like it's just display styling by an individual store not a really late mass rush....

This makes sense, actually, lol - every time I went in there, 2 boxes, with an open case on top with 6-7 bottles in it - very easy to just replenish the top, never occurred to me that the 2 stack might be empty :-)

Knowing my luck, the cherry stout will taste awful, but I need it. I need it bad.

Much more interested in raspberry tbh, cherry stouts are really tough to pull off IMO
