They have the distro network so it makes little sense for them not to launch something into national distro unless either they didn't have enough hops or this was a batch brewed on a smaller system that had a window available during the brew cycle.

They haven't distributed any of their special IPA releases.

Maybe, but their prior releases sat for longer than they were probably expecting/hoping for, so maybe they didn't want that to happen again.

That's why it's nice when breweries releases their batch size/number of cases available so people have a point of reference. Half Acre never does that.

After missing out on cans of Cliffs and Topanga I took a chance and hit Half Acre at open yesterday for a few 4pks. Another rock solid IPA from the crew! Time and time again just truly great hoppy beers IMO.

To the point that they don't announce batch sizes they have done that in the past. When they couldn't sell cans for that brief period out of Lincoln they resurrected old brews at 50 cases at a time.

To the point of perhaps not enough Nelson supply for a bigger batch that could be very true. That's what held up Vallejo from mass production for a number of years until they could obtain more.

I'm talking about their one-off releases that they have just begun producing this year: Cliffs of Tephra and Topanga Gulch. Neither of those saw distro and HA specifically said Fluorescent would be brewery only. It's a much better model.

I thin it was a smaller batch. They said Friday 1000 4packs and almost no kegs.

Beers produced at Lincoln appear to stay at Lincoln.

Fiancé and I went Friday afternoon and had Flourescent on draft and loved it and picked up a four pack. They also were pouring 2015 Vanilla Big Hugs which was fantastic.

Thought this beer was a lot better than the Heavy Gem release a couple weeks back.

I just missed Fluorescent due to hitting up Mikerphone first - a costly mistake, as Lunches Brunches Interviews didn't sell out on Saturday. No harm I guess, as LBI is pretty incredible, but I'll be looking for a tapping of Fluorescent if one pops up!

As an outsider to this thread and sub-forum I wanted to pop in and just mention how fucking good Navaja is.

HA started distroing to my area last year, or maybe late the year before that and every time I see this beer I buy a few cans, and then buy a few more, and it never disappoints. In NY we have great local breweries, we get great distribution but this beer knocks my socks off each time. IMO, hangs with the best of them.

Yeah Navaja is outstanding imo. Good to hear it's well received in NY. It will only be available through June and then back again the next January, so you still have a couple months to enjoy. Deep Space will replace it come July. First time it will have been canned. Different flavor profile but another solid DIPA. Hope you enjoy it just as well. Cheers.

Ah man. That's a bummer. Deep Space is good. I enjoy it.

But it's no Navaja. Look like NvU will be the go
    go-to summer DIPA.

So Navaja/Deep Space will be getting the Goneaway/Vellajo treatment? Given HA's increased production, how come regular Space hasn't seen cans?

Agreed. Despite Navaja being relatively boozy, I really like it as a summer beer since it's so crisp and dry. Don't think I'll be messing with Deep Space too much. It's a shame since I was really excited when they initially announced Navaja as a year-round option.

On the other hand, if they keep cranking out excellent one-offs at the Lincoln brewery, I won't complain too much.

From what I've gathered in talking with their bartenders and employees, they are not planning on bottling/canning Space going forward. They intend for that being their 'house' IPA available for on-site consumption only. There isn't any specific logistical or brewing reason.

Space is my favorite half acre beer out there. I have been waiting years for this to happen!

It's not a stout, so that should help quite a bit. For example, I'm not grabbing it (although I'm pretty curious).

There are lots of us in Chicago clamoring for more high quality sour beers. Une Annee and Off Color are the only two breweries really producing great sours. Here's hoping Half Acre kills it.

I had Fluorescent last night. I thought it was fine. Nothing about it stood out to me so I'm glad I only got 1 can from a friend.
