The past two weeks have been on Wednesday. If that's the case you may get lucky and have something hit behind the bar and last until open on Thursday. It looks like it's Rose so far this week. I personally liked that one but know of a lot of people who did not care for it. Your best bet is to follow them on Instagram for release information.

Where exactly are you staying? In the city or in the suburbs somewhere? Any particular styles of beer are you looking for?

That will help with recommendations. For example - Tired Hands is not in the city proper, and often their taplist is exclusively IPAs and Saisons.

So what breweries/beers should I be on the lookout for while I'm there?

Heard this site is a great tool to finding awesome beers on tap but don't know what I should be on the lookout for, per se.

If you want to go out as far as Ambler, Forest & Main currently has their English Barleywine (Omphalos) on hand pump. It's a fantastic beer. They also have a Dark Mild on cask, and some of their IPAs are NE-style. They have good food, but don't open until 4pm weekdays.

(EDIT: Just saw you said Saturday / Sunday too. They open for lunch on weekends)

I'm not a big sour beer fan, but Free Will probably has the best reputation of local SEPA breweries for sours. They also normally have some good boozy barrel aged stuff. Draai Laag is western PA, but some of their sours make it the area.

Other PA breweries that brew above average beer of all styles (that would be distributed to Philly bars): Victory, Troegs, Voodoo, Yards, Tired Hands, Weyerbacher, Pizza Boy, Neshaminy Creek, Conshohocken, Funk

You can also check out this list:

    Breweries:
    Tired Hands, Forest and Main

    Bars:
Monk's Cafe is a must... otherwise check Philly Tap Finder if you want to look for specific beers. Usually Alla Spina and Tria have a really good tap list, but PTF also has an Events section and you can see if there's anything tapping.

There's also some outdoor beer gardens and other pop-ups that might be open during nice weather. One is right next to Independence Hall / Liberty Bell.

    Bottle Shops:
Northern Liberties Beer (KBS on tap for growlers as of yesterday), Monde Market

Also Bottle Bar East, great food and selection. You can open up single bottles to drink onsite. Right next to Fetty Sau (BBQ place that's awesome), Barcade and other cool places.

    Thanks

If I'm not big on cask beer, belgians, and english styles should I skip Forest and Main?

Probably... their Saisons are awesome, but they never have them on tap. Usually it's the English / Cask style beers.

I've only been there once, but I was impressed with the two pints of beers I had - an Adambier and a Double IPA. Didn't have any food.

Ok I'm confused. You just said "I like Ne hops, stouts, english barleywines, sours, anything barrel aged". Stouts and Barleywines are English. Barrel aged/wild/sour beers would be considered Belgian. What am I missing?

If you're staying in NJ you'd be better off buying any bottles you might want to take home with you in NJ. Total Wine in Cherry Hill and Roger Wilco in Pennsauken will fit your needs. Singles are easier to come by here and a slight bit cheaper.

Roger Wilco also has a growler/crowler filling station if you want something that's available on draft only (Kane Brewing, Brotherton and Carton)

Also not far from where you're staying is Blue Monkey Tavern in Merchantville and Jay's Elbow Room in Maple Shade. Jay's is a great late night spot. Looks like a dump, but has a nice craft beer selection on draft.

The Pour House in Westmont is another close spot from Pennsauken. Great food menu and draft list.
