I wasn't planning on grabbing anything this week, but I'm very curious about the new iteration of Hubbard's Fresh V1 so I may grab a bottle if it drops Friday.

I've got to say, I'm really enjoying the IPA renaissance that the Chicago area is currently undergoing.

picked up a pack of Born Again Yesterday and have to say it's really good.
But to me, in my personal opinion, it smells and tastes and mouthfeels more like a west coast IPA and is just hazy in appearance. But it's damn good.

Unless someone knows different, would assume they still have Let's Gummy too, since that was more recently released than Jive and Mosaic. They'd then have 4 NE IPAs on tap Thursday, which is awesome. I had a crowler of Jive last week, which is the oldest one still pouring - and it was still damn good.

I'm hoping Noon Whistle puts one of those "older" NE IPAs as their growler special or something soon

I thought the same thing. I know from the label it's touted simply as an "unfiltered" ipa. But is there anything about it being in the vein of a NE IPA? I can't remember.

It is a wet hop pale ale, I've never seen it advertised as a NEIPA except for maybe in this thread where many people think that any unfiltered IPA falls into that category.

Anyone know if noon whistles fills other brewery growlers or howlers? Seems Thurs release is Mr Nice Gummy

I've seen them fill other brewery's grolwers. Never got mine filled but I've seen others come in with all kinds of shapes and size, and have them filled.

This. It is not a NE-style IPA. Neither is Unfiltered Sculpin.

When has Chicago not had great IPAs?

Another Chicagoland brewery getting in the NE style game:

Stormalong, New England IPA by Myths and Legends Brewing Company available on draft for the first time beginning FRIDAY 4/21 @ 3pm. Bring a friend, bring a snack, bring your craft beer craving for this special treat coming in at a smooth 7% ABV with a a delighful hop bitterness you might not expect from the 25 IBUs. With a beautiful cloudy orange color and delighful cittus aroma, there's loads to enjoy!

Had? I dunno, they've always had some while I've been drinking.

Had absolute truckloads? Had an emphasis on super fresh, super-hopped truckloads? Only recently.

I'm as strongly pro-Chicago as anyone, but we've really stepped up our game recently. Guys like Half Acre are cranking out great new canned one-offs every few weeks, new breweries are coming out of nowhere with top notch efforts, and everyone is making stuff to fly off the shelves, not sit on them. It's great.

That depends on what you like when it comes to IPAs.

There was a time when Pipeworks had nothing under about 8% abv. So if you didn't like Daisy Cutter, Anti-Hero, Goose IPA or whatever Two Brothers had at the time you were out of luck unless you chased down Zombie Dust.

I stopped at noon whistle on my way home from Legoland. But, got a couple crowlers and tried the gummies. I will say, I really liked Mosaic Gummy but I am a sucker for Mosaic hops. Worth the stop, thanks for the tips all.

Unfortunately I couldn't plan Legoland tomorrow which would have better aligned with getting the latest Gummy release. Oh well, I am sure you guys can fill me in.

I've thought about doing a venture such as this with the kids to LEGOLAND and stopping at NW to try some stuff finally. Did you take kids in with you? Just wondering how acceptable it is there, if at all.

Kids are definitely allowed at Noon Whistle - although there is a sign on the door that says something along the lines of: Please supervise your kids, as this isn't a playground

There have always been kids and/or dogs when I've been there. Very friendly and laid back place.

Honestly, I was just in and out really quick. I got a couple tastes and some crowlers and left in maybe 5 mins. My oldest son was in the truck playing games and probably didn't even know I was gone. I was in the same boat, I wasn't sure whether it was allowed so I just made it a quick mission. LEGOLAND was pretty cool too, but I wouldn't bring really little ones. I didn't bring my 3 year old and I am glad I didn't. He may have been OK, but I saw people with really little kids and it looked miserable.

I've been at Noon Whistle when folks had their kids. Didn't bother me any and I'm fairly anti-kid in general.

I like kids, but am pretty anti-kid when I'm trying to do...almost anything adult, especially drinking.
