I had JP4 for the first time on draft this week and I felt the opposite. I didn't think that 3 was anything special, but I really enjoyed 4. I prefer a bit more of a hop bite in my tropical IPAs, I think way too many in this style fall flat mid-palate for me.

On draft was absolutely better than bottled. I had it on draft at Beer Cellar, and out of a bomber later. On that day, the bottle wasn't quite as good as draft, but it was very similar. The bomber I opened last night looked like a completely different beer.

The constant bitching abput pricing when you do not know what cost goes into creating and packaging beer (especially NE style) is getting pretty ridiculous already.

    Malt bombs?

If you are always drinking New England style IPAs with no malt character, then I'm sure the malt in an anti hero is more noticeable than what you're used to, but I wouldn't call any of the Chicago staples like Anti Hero, Brickstone APA, Daisy Cutter, ect ect... malt bombs. The word you're looking for is balanced. You just don't like balanced IPAs.

Nope, but I'm not blasting them for their prices without having any information.

Anyone else try Mr. Nice Gummy? I think this is the first Gummy to disappoint me. It's got a heavy aspirin and kind of a stale raspberry thing going on

I had Cat's in the Cradle last night. Very good and very similar to his better stuff, just with the different hop profile for some added bitterness. I'm looking forward to trying the Hubbard's Cave tonight. @Kraj30 won't stop talking about it.

I know it's not Chicagoland, but for anyone that has any plans to head down to Nashville, Bearded Iris is a must. I had my first beer by them last night - Noisemaker, 5% and 100% citra. It was very, very good. I'm also getting my first Narrow Gauge next week. Really looking forward to finally trying their stuff. I chose a crowler of J.U.I.C.E. over OJ Run. If anyone has had either, I'd be interested to hear their thoughts.

I was going to ask if anyone had tried Hubbard's last night, but figured someone would respond. "Double dry-hopped" and "citra" in the same beer are usually big keywords for me, and I already like what Hubbard's Cave has been doing. I'll probably grab a bottle in the next few days and see what they've come up with.

Cruz Blanca will be releasing Palm Shade IPA soon - Not sure if any of you have had beers over there, but the brewer is extremely talented, goose island alum. Ride hard for this place. This ipa was made using lupulin powder. Low bitterness, incredibly hazy.

Wow. Sounds like Cruz Blanca isn't doing too well if they have to abandon the Mexican style beers to jump on the NE IPA hype train.

Well Hubbard's Cave officially threw their hat in the ring for Chicagoland NE style IPA contender. This newest offering is wonderful. Highly recommended. Hazy as hell, juicy, nice bite on the back end. $10 for a large bottle is rather economical as well. Happy Friday BA!

As someone who interacts with their staff on a regular basis, they're doing extremely well and it's largely driven by the fact that they're now offering select beers in bottles. They're just playing to their audience. 90% of their beers on tap are still 'on brand' whatever that means in this particular case.
