I love this box and the beer it contains, but it's going for $17-18/12pk on central Iowa shelves, which seems a bit rich based on the styles. Based on their pricing structure change, I fear Keller Pils 12pks to fall in same price tier. While I know some top Summit accounts that may run slightly cheaper, this seems like a big increase. I will still buy, but only once or twice rather than throughout the summer at that price.

    ~$15 at F44. I haven't checked other stores yet.

Typically Schell's releases their hefe closer to summer, which is a good thing. I hope they do the same this year.

Don't get me wrong, I love it in the summer, but would drink it 6 months a year if possible. Just wasn't sure when it actually came out.

Should be available in a couple of weeks and run through August.

@bergbrew - Has Schell's considered packaging Schell's Hefe in cans?

Schell's Hefe is so good. The worst day of the year for me is when I go for another case of hefe in August and find it's been replaced with Oktoberfest. If we keep harassing them for year round hefe cans on social media they'll eventually cave, right?

I probably have no idea what I'm talking about here...just speculating that perhaps the Schell hefe has some bottle conditioning with the yeast after it is bottled. Can you do that in cans too? Not sure....maybe...

Not sure if I'm onto something here or just on something...

I won't speculate on that, but I don't know who you are any more with that avatar! :grinning:

Maybe we create a new thread for this, but add me to the list of people lobbying for year-round Schell's hefeweizen in cans.

I would rather see them offer a dunkelweizen with the same yeast after the Oktoberfest. When Harriet closed we lost the best MN brewed dunkelweizen.

The retail (MSRP) pricing structure has been affected (risen) in Summit's home market, too, translating as many unhappy campers accustomed to 10.99 sale price 26 weeks a year. :slight_frown:

From my understanding (speaking extemporaneously) Schell prefers to not offer this brand in cans. And as I've seen (too often) in the past, most retailers seem to have a difficult time of just squeezing this (unpasteurized) brand into their cold box.

    Baby steps . . .

If it helps I can offer up 100 products that retailers can and should get rid of to make more room for Schell's Hefe. Where's that Berg fella?

Can you get Schell's on the shelf at the new Hyvee in downtown Des Moines? Really bummed me out the other day not to see any.

The selection at that location is a lot more limited because they have so much less space, but you could always ask the W&S manager. I bet that stores inventory changes a lot over time. P Hill, Fleur, Windsor and the Ankeny locations tend to be the best for Schell's in DSM area.

Tried the hefeweizen and wit. I use to like the Summit Hefe but I guess I do not like it anymore because I did not enjoy these cans. But I do prefer this wit over the old Scandia. I think they toned down the coriander.

Bought the fancy Boundary Waters Box 12er today....feel like I should use that box for something rather than tossing into recycling......wow...is there any packaging better?

Thought the Keller Pils was exactly the same tasting as the original....preferred the hefe to their old hefe....mid range...3.3 type score.....nowhere close to Schells but not as bad for me as some here indicated...did not have the Wit yet but the wife liked it
