Good morning can captains and bottle barons,

I hope this message finds you ready to enjoy all the trappings that New Beer Sunday has to offer. Weather here in Central OH is FALL PERFECTION. Overcast and mid-50's. Perfect for some of the wonderful ales and lagers that this time of year has to offer.

I keep going back to my old staples but the wife was kind enough to pick me up a mixed sixer at the store yesterday with some goodies that I have yet to try. Those will be making an appearance on this thread today.

However you acquire your new beer, this is the day and this is the place to share. Kindly post your link, a detailed description, and, if able, a pic of your NEW offering for this fine day.

Thanks for keeping NBS fresh, informative, and fun. Good day and good drinkin'.

    Peace, love, and malty-ness,

    Matt

    ***New Double/Imperial Stout Sunday!!!

Not quite Autumn perfection here...it snowed a couple of inches Friday and I wasn't ready for it. Hottest summer in Casper that I can remember in the ~32 years I've lived here and snow this early??

    My new beer for today:

A real contender for my favourite brew from Rogue.

    Buenos dias, amigos y amigas!

My first contribution to NBS - seems I try all my new beers every other day of the week?

So, today, having really enjoyed Avery's 17th and 19th Anniversary Ales, I opened their 18th:

Avery Anniversary Ale - Eighteen (Dry Hopped Rye Saison)

    ...and reviewed it here: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/30/69672/?ba=Greywulfken

Enjoying some nice, cool weather here on/in LI, NY, too. Overcast and in the 50's (sound familiar?). Thank God. Sick of the hot and humid swelter we've had on and off all September (no a/c where I work, and it sucks).

So I figured I start my day with a saison - a rye saison - and I'll tell you, this was as much if not more of a rye ale than a saison. I loved it, but it is not a light, airy, summertime brew - this was perfect for the season and weather: hearty, chewy, and thick with rye and malt.

Hey, Matt: the Giants are hosting Cleveland today...

A great Sunday and beer-day to all: Cheers!

    New Am. Adjunct Lager

    Greetings NBSer's,

Fall is here and with two nights of solid frost in SCMN my garden is officially dead and done for the year. All things must pass, as George Harrison said. Nonetheless, a glorious sunny and seasonally comfortable day.

Little trivia for today's beer. On the can it now says "born in the..." and it used to say "From the...". Either way its a take off from the official definition of the state in which it was first produced long, long ago. It's been a long time since it was produced here, but it seems to be making a bit of a comeback in popularity.
Anyway, an Am. lager it is. Watery and lawnmowerish as it is.

    Best to all this week.

I'm onto my 2nd new beer of the day (will there be a third?)...

    Hoptimus Prime by Ruckus Brewing
    [IMG]

Meh... Well, I mean, I liked it, but it was a bit lacking in the hoppy citrusy and piney flavors and smells I look for in a DIPA. Very hearty and chewy (I'm using that word waaaay too much lately) with lots of caramel malt and sweetness. I saw two listings for it on BA - one for Legacy Brewing and one for Ruckus Brewing. Don't know what's going on with that, but my bottle says Ruckus.

It's probably not a DIPA I'd return to (there are always so many to choose from), but it seems like one of those beers that I hear about so often, I was kind of wondering how I'd missed trying it for so long. Well, this puts that to rest.

I've got a Full Sail Top Sail Imperial porter (bourbon barrel-aged style) in the fridge. Don't know if I'll pull the trigger later. If I do, you'll be the first to know...

    Good drinking to you.

    New (drainpoured) American IPA

Been getting cooler in the Inland Northwest's largest city, but today it's supossed to get to nearly 70 degrees and be fairly pleasant.

Currently gearing up for the 'hawks game, though I'll have to leave partway through for a end of summer/bring on the fall BBQ on a farm out in the boonies.

I can look back with pride over what my Eagles did to North Dakota last night, but I'm still in mourning for the Huskies today. No Oregon beers today (or at least no Ninkasi)!

Sadly, I was let down by a beer brewed in Washington state:

    http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/18081/79496/?ba=woemad

I'd heard good things about Big Al, so maybe I had a bad bottle, but it's dispiriting nonetheless.

A Deschutes Obsidian Stout for my new beer today. Man, those malts and espresso flavors are spot on.

A perfect selection for a rainy 50 degree day here at the Jersey Shore...still paradise, though.
This was a nice surprise from chimaychick, a very cool Jersey Girl BA.

    New Imperial Coffee Porter
Back with another beer, with far better results.

Coffee porters are kind of hit or miss with me, but this example from nearly-local Laughing Dog seems like a great fall seasonal. Therefore, I'm mystified as to why it was released in the summer. Oh, well, It kicks ass now.

    NEW AMERICAN BROWN ALE

Just got done watching the Bengals lose, so now I'm getting ready for the Reds game tonight. Finished up a bottle of Widmer Brothers Kill Devil Brown Ale a few minutes ago, it's not a bad brew at all but it's not really impressive either: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/8/80794/?ba=bluejacket74

I should have another new beer review on here in a little bit.

    Cheers!

    NEW FRUIT BEER SUNDAY

Hello all! The weather really took a drop today. Had been beautiful and warm. Cloudy and chilly here in New Jersey today. My local walking-distance beer store has been bringing in new fruit beers. The one I had the other day from Sam Adams - Curious Traveler Shandy was better than the one I had today. The one I had today is from Leinenkugel - Lemon Berry Shandy. It's not a great beer. In fact, it's hardly a beer. There is some tart, and now that i'm on my second one, I do get a hint of yeast in the aftertaste. Still, it has that plastic-y fruit syrup quality. Anyway, it is what it is, as I said in my review.

    Have a great day!
    Cheers!

    Happy NBS to all...

Congrats to Wasatch on review # 2600 [IMG]

It got real cool here on Long Island overnight but I welcome the change.

I'm at about 95% after my hernia surgery and I'm going to drink a few beers to celebrate so they might as well be "new" beers.

1st up is a beer that a co-worker gave me a few weeks ago...

    New surroundings Sunday, over here!

After 10 years in Houston, my family moved to Salinas, CA in April. I was in Navy training in Florida until the 3rd, so now I'm on leave until the 18th (before reporting to San Diego) and I'm just hanging out at the parents' place 'till then. I've got nothing overly exciting, but I'm just trying out all of the West Coast beer I can, most of which I wasn't able to get in Houston or Florida. In Florida, though, I wasn't allowed to have alcohol in my barracks, so I'm also just kind of getting back into the swing of having bottles of beer in the fridge.

I just had a New Belgium Red Hoptober. I have Deschutes Black Butte and Twilight, North Coast Scrimshaw, Firestone Wookey Jack, and Windmer Shaddock IPA all waiting in the fridge along with a few other brews whose names escape me. I also had to grab a Duvel gift set because, at $12.99, it could not be passed up.

Nothing in my arsenal to make beer geeks go nuts, but I'm diggin' the West Coast selection very well so far.

    Cheers!

Along with Wasatch having a reviewing milestone today, I figured I'd check how many I had done and my review of Rivertown Ojos Negros was my 1600th BA review. I guess after a while I don't pay too much attention to how many reviews I've done!

    Belgian Strong Pale Ale

A nice day here in the Upper Midwest. A late start for me on NBS but I will still make a contribution. This was a beer I was eagerly anticipating but just did not do much for me. Still glad I tried it and may still pick up another bottle to put some age on it. Olvalde Farm The Auroch's Horn aged on Rhubarb:

    **New American Pale Wheat Ale**

Its a beautiful (the locals call it cold) sub 60 degree day here in Central NC. It was mid 80s for World Beer Festival, then the temperature dropped overnight. I love it.

Ive got a backpack full of leftovers from World Beer Fest yesterday, and this one stood out to me. Light muddy brown colored body with like no head. I get all the stuff on the nose, but all light. Peppers are faint and sweet. The taste is super light and only a bit different than the original. The pepper spice flashes across the tongue, then fades just as quickly as it came. The chocolate is nice. I actually like this.
